“Fine,” He sighs, and he claps Bato on the cheek before heading into the room.

Gustavo had to fight hard to keep his expression neutral, hiding his triumph as Walt revealed his own ego to Jesse without realizing it.

It might be with a spoon instead of a shovel, but with every word, Walt dug his own grave deeper and deeper.

For a moment, Gustavo could’ve sworn that God sided firmly with him, for when the cloud finally passed overhead, the sun lit up the desert and Jesse’s indignant rage almost shone in the golden light reflecting off the sand.

Summary
When he’d found the kid at Walt’s otherwise unoccupied house some weeks later, ablaze with unchecked emotion and a fist-full of fire, he’d felt a tad more sympathetic; the evidence of Walt’s new brand of havoc alight in the kid’s every pained word and the cowed bow of his body. But even that had been fleeting. Less than a half hour later, Hank had Jesse caught between a rock and a hard spot, had obligated him to record a confession for which Pinkman would reap the consequences if they couldn’t make them stick to Walt. Hank had coerced the kid into staying in Hank's own home, under the guise of protecting him, when really, it was only Hank who stood to gain anything from illegally holding the kid against his will and drugging him into oblivion to ensure he’d cooperate and give the desired performance the next day.

A wonderful AU where Hank and Agent Gomez didn't get killed by the Nazis and lived to continue investigating the case, set post-Felina. This story has amazing characterization, smooth writing, and thrilling plot. Perfect mix of hurt and comfort with Jesse and Hank.
