There is a cat.
A kitten, really. Black, cowering in fear, chest tufted with white that matches its paws. It is very round. There is also a frog trapped under its little claws and teeth.
“…”
Ribbit!
The cat raises its head. Large grey eyes blink up at Lan Wangji. It drops the frog.
Quickly, the frog hops away, faster as Lan Wangji watches it go with incredulous eyes.
He turns back to the cat.
Then, “…Wei Ying?”or: During another day of rule-breaking and rule-copying, Wei Wuxian turns into a cat and Lan Wangji decides he’s a certified pet lover then and there.

Except he wasn’t the Yiling Patriach right now. He was a fish. A fish that could do nothing as he was dangled painfully by his tail while the two men decided whether he should be killed, kept, or eaten!
Suddenly, a savior in white floated into Wei Wuxian’s vision, their hand reaching out to grip the wrist of the man who was holding him upside down.
“I will take the fish.” Their smooth baritone voice interrupted the conversation.
'Lan Zhan!'
OR
Wei Wuxian gets turned into a Koi Fish by a mysterious curse and Lan Zhan takes care of him.

Summary
On camera, Lan Zhan has everything. A picture perfect life with a doting boyfriend, a posh downtown apartment with a gorgeous view, and 10 million subscribers that pay for their lifestyle. He has Sunday morning brunch, a sunlit studio where he composes, and romantic dinners on rooftop cafes. He has it all, as long as it's on camera.
Off camera, he has a failed relationship whose ending must be timed perfectly. January, according to their publicist. He feels like a prisoner, their posh downtown apartment slowly suffocating the life out of him.
So when his brother begs him to come back for the summer, it's not a hard decision to make. Until he meets a fellow instructor and is pulled kicking and screaming into a confrontation with his past-- an unrequited first love and a lost friendship.
