Summary
Ask her if she reads. No, dumb—she clearly reads.
Say something about the weather. What are you, eighty?
Comment on the book. Too obvious. She’ll know you were staring.
Just say literally anything—“Here you go.” Vi set the coffee down gently, voice a little hoarse. “Black. No sugar. Same cupcake as last time.”
Cait looked up at her with that soft, surprised smile again—like Vi had done something remarkable just by remembering.
“Thank you,” she said, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “You’re very kind.”
Vi scratched the back of her neck, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. She didn’t want to leave. She wanted to stay right there.
But her throat went dry. The café buzzed around them, and Vi’s brain—usually quick, sharp—offered nothing.
Idiot.
__________As December nears, Cait arrives in Zaun, hoping to find a sense of home—something to anchor her through the harshness of military training. She finds it in a quiet café, and in the girl behind the counter who takes her breath away. Truth is, they leave each other breathless.
Neither of them is prepared for what fate has in store for their tragic, yet beautiful story.

Summary
"You aren't supposed to be here." the woman tells her.
"Is your name on this damn bridge?" Vi bites back, not yet opening her eyes to regain focus.
"I'm sorry but I really need this bridge to be alone and...if you could please leave, I'd appreciate it." the woman says, an accent so thick it might as well have clogged her throat.
That's it.
Vi opens her eyes and turns her head to get a good look at her.
"Listen here you—" the words got caught in her throat at that moment, her initial thought and insult that sat on the tip of her tongue.
Her grip on the railing unconsciously softened, unaware of how the tension had slowly started to slip away.
The woman was so beautiful, Vi almost didn't want to jump.

Summary
coda (n.): in music, a passage that brings a piece (or a movement) to an end
Ava Silva has everything she’s ever wanted. Her dream job designing lights for the Royal Ballet. An apartment bigger than a shoebox. A city to explore full of sexy accents and taxis that are all (yes, ALL) equipped with ramps.
Beatrice Young has everything she’s ever wanted. A coveted spot as one of the youngest ever principal dancers at the Royal Ballet. The role of a lifetime. A routine that makes it so that she never has to worry about what happens next.
It’s funny how quickly things change.

Summary
"You are pretty interesting, Beatrice. And I can't figure you out for the life of me, which says a lot, 'cause that's sorta my job."
Beatrice shrugged. She should have been alarmed, trying her best to shake off whatever Ava was trying to find out, but she just...didn't. That alone should have set the bells ringing in her head.
She never felt this comfortable around strangers. Something about Ava's earnest curiosity was making her feel warm inside. She felt seen. Not as a warrior. Not as a nun. Not as anything. Just as her. Beatrice. A human being.
"I am just a nun."
Ava's smile was knowing though. Her voice grew impossibly lighter, "No one is ever just something. Don't sell yourself short."
or,
The Library au, in which life keeps bringing a nun and a bartender together.
