Zaeed's had enough of her high and mighty mission, she was always the hero, preaching to everyone about how much better she was to everyone else. He was going to take the bitch down a peg or two, or maybe just fuck her into submission. Fucking her would be the best option, satisfying for him to watch her scream and beg as he drove into her ruthlessly might just be the wake up call she needed, that and that all her preaching was falling on deaf ears. She had screwed everyone over, everyone she had recruited for this suicide mission of hers and they were all criminals. She had let them all down while being on her high horse that her choices were the better ones. She had no idea who she had just screwed over.
Date rape drug in hand they all get together to teach the commander about respect. Don't dish out what you can't take Shepard.
Dark universe where all the bad choices were made and Renegade Shepard is a bitch.

This is a (some could say partially, others could say fully) darker interpretation of the canon romance, though it does stick to canon, many scenes are expanded upon (a few are rewritten either because they don't seem right in canon, or I needed to find a way to fit them) and new ones are made to fully make this story. Characterization of Thane on the other hand, that's ambiguous if you want to consider it canon compliant. Personally I do.

Summary
Set after the events of Mass Effect 2 but before 3, Shepard finds herself on a "forced vacation" on Elysium post blowing up the Collector Base. While she's enraged that Joker's made off with her ship for the unknowable future, at least it's left her alone with that assassin she's grown dangerously attached to.
It's a little story to flesh out the too brief Thane/Shep romance that may expand to more scenes over time.
This is dedicated to LadyGoat who not only encouraged me to do it, but also came up with the title.
It's also my first ever Mass Effect fic, so I hope it's not too bad.

While writing Venri I developed an idea of who I thought Thane Krios would be and the kind of Shepard that would fall in love with him. People who deserved each other. Smart, scary, Renegade without apology. Anti-fluff. Love between a Butcher and an Assassin. Fits into plot points but rewrites motivations and conversations. Because damn, that man deserved better. All from Thane's POV.

Summary
Shepard is a Spectre on assignment to hunt slavers.
The crew discovers a distress beacon on a small planet. After removing the slavers that also responded to the distress call, Shepard and her crew find a young female Drell along with her bodyguard hiding in a cave. When Shepard tries to find a way down into the pit they were in, she slips and falls landing on a growth of giant flowers sending up a cloud of pollen in the air and coating her armor completely.
The young female turns out to be the daughter of the current Ariki of the Matriarchal society of Drell. Relieved to have her daughter returned safely she bestows upon Shepard a gift.

My version of Thane with one critical alteration to his timeline. He’s evil. Non-consent AU using the characters and plot from my story “Of Kittens and Broken Things.” Who would Thane be with all his energy directed toward selfish pursuit? Who would Thane be if he had a moment of seeing Shepard as Siha and did not follow her, but took her for himself? Portrayal of a brilliant Shepard not only challenged by the greater problems of the galaxy but by Thane intent on keeping her.
Spoiler alert for “Kittens.” Concept in the notes.
All Thanes were hurt in the making of this story.

This is not a happy story. If you were looking for a fluffy ending piece where Shepard and Thane live happily ever after, you should look elsewhere.
