Bahamut remembered.
He remembered twining his tail with one that was as warm as a human hearth. He remembered the feeling of feathers brushing against the inside of his wings. He remembered gently knocking his horns against those of his beloved.
He remembered when their world fell apart, when he was sent to watch over humanity while awaiting his beloved's return to him. For that was the signal that things would soon go back to the way they were.
So Bahamut waited.
Thousands of years later Dion Lesage locked eyes with the Marquess of Rosaria.

Summary
It’d been 8 years since Mika had last seen Yuu. Coincidently, it had been just after they parted ways that the so called "apocalypse virus" had caused humanity to collapse on itself.
Mika's magic has been slipping through his fingertips due the after effects of the virus, the last trace of his humanity getting more and more difficult to keep as he struggles to get by on what's left. When he gets a visitor late one night giving what seems like a miracle, it's almost too good to be true.
But why would he care, if he has a chance to see Yuu again?

Syrus pulls a face, one a child would make at their parents' acting lovey dovey. "Get a room, you two."
Chazz's head whips around so fast, Jaden's sure he heard it crack. His eyes burn holes through Syrus' face, who slinks in his chair, chuckling nervously. "What did you say?"
He's about to tear Syrus apart limb by limb, when Alexis redirects his attention to her. "I mean, you two do act like a married couple."
Chazz's jaw drops to the floor. Previously gripping Jaden by the shoulders, he lets go and trips over his own words, unable to utter a coherent sentence. It'd be hilarious, if Jaden weren't equally embarrassed, silently conveying his panic to Alexis by looking her dead in the eye.
She has to notice, but digs their hole deeper without remorse. "You can't tell?"
Or: Chazz gets a tongue piercing, and it throws Jaden's whole world off balance.

Akechi Goro leaped before looking - it was a simple opening, a simple proposition that would ingratiate him with his prime suspects. Their voices matched the ones he heard in Madarame's Palace. All he needed to do was confirm his suspicions. He rounded the corner and steel grey eyes focused on him as he appeared, sending his words to the back of his throat. Akechi's perfect smile bought him time, it always did. He was pleasant enough despite the empty-eyed looks possessed by the ones with lighter hair. Before continuing on his way after a miscommunication about food, he glanced over his shoulder, staring back at the lensed glare that practically pinned him against the wall.
Akechi set a task to add Amamiya Ren to his plans, unaware he already revealed his hand.

A retelling of Persona 5 Royal, swapping between Joker and Akechi's perspectives with a heavy emphasis on Shuake/Akeshu. Original events have been added, tweaks to certain plot points to adjust for pacing, and the relationship between Joker and Akechi has been incorporated without changing the general course of the story.
