Closer to the door now, she could hear the loud sounds of her classmates talking and laughing. Momo wondered if they’d eaten dinner yet, and sighed quietly, resting her head against the cool wood. The cicadas were screaming behind her, nearly obscuring the sounds of activity inside.
It just seemed like so— so much. Normally, she could muster up the strength to laugh and talk with the rest of them, but right now she wasn’t sure she could make it past the kitchen. Backing up, she moved over to the edge of the little porch in front of the building and sat with her legs hanging over the edge.
Training had gone poorly.
