Summary
Taako didn't know what he was thinking when he cast that spell. It had been in a panic, the only clear thought in his head being something along the lines of 'oh fuck shit please don't let me die!' Somehow it had worked, the Queen's guard construct falling under the charm, rushing to his aid and fighting off the shitty mugger.
It ended up working too well, actually.
Now Kravitz was stuck protecting this strange wizard, and neither of them were too pleased by this predicament. Instead of guarding the Queen's palace as was his sworn duty he was traipsing around the countryside, trying to help him find a way to dispel the magic. Getting tangled up in Taako's own problems, when all he wanted to do was go home.
At least, he thought all he wanted to do was go home.
It turned out, life outside of the palace walls was very confusing.

Taako decided it was best if their conversation took a quick left turn somewhere a little more fun. The room was blurring at the edges, and his hand felt a bit too light as he moved it to Barry's knee and squeezed gently. Firm muscle under soft flesh under rough denim. Dope.
He let his eyes droop a bit, pasted a grin on his face, and said, "You're too soft to do anything mean, at least."
Barry's face flushed scarlet, mouth falling open the tiniest bit. He looked transfixed. Taako relished in it.
He said, "Adorable. I bet I could tear you apart."

Summary
People are disappearing in Neverwinter.
When Taako’s twin sister Lup disappears without a trace, he and their partner in crime Barry (who’s not-so-secretly in love with Lup) start out to find out where the fuck she went.
They are accompanied by Carey Fangbattle and Magnus Burnsides, both of whom are looking for their wives- Killian and Julia- who have disappeared under the same mysterious circumstances as Lup. Also in their ramshackle party is the best detective in the world, thirteen year old Angus McDonald. He hasn’t lost anyone- not in the same way Taako and the others have, at least- but he felt it pertinent to lend his considerable skills to the cause. When they’re joined by the wayward pseudo-cleric Merle, and Kravitz- an emissary to the Raven Queen- Taako is left wondering when he will stop attracting the attentions of clingy strangers, if Barry will ever admit his feelings for Lup, and if the mysterious Kravitz is single.

Kravitz has always dreamed of cities: wrapped in vines, streets peaceful and empty. He never knew the world before the end. Still, life goes on and on and on. The homes he's known are in compounds of chain-link fences patrolled by armed guards, feral zombies creeping around the edges who sing to him in the unsettled night.
There is no cure. There is no hope. There is only what little the survivors scraped together.
Then there's Taako.
And the new world that Kravitz was born into ends too.
