Summary
In an instant, Rafayel flips the two of you over. He holds your wrist and gazes at you. The dim light makes his eyes seem almost deep red. “What is it that you want?” he asks, voice almost a whisper.
Your heart jolts, but you keep your voice steady. “I want you. Tonight.” You pause. “Always.”
His eyes scan yours and he exhales roughly. “…Are you sure?” He looks tortured, yet he still asks.
When the climate of the desert becomes too much to bear, Rafayel decides it's you he needs.

Summary
Maybe Lumine doesn’t need something logical right now. It might be more beneficial to try and specifically target Ajax’s emotions in order to get a good response from him. And it’s not like her and Scaramouche’s possible arrangement has to last forever—it’d be easy to claim they broke up whenever the need arises.
Perhaps… it’s actually worth a shot.
In an attempt to make her ex-boyfriend jealous, Lumine decides to fake date Scaramouche.
(Spoiler: It doesn't go according to plan. She falls for Scaramouche instead.)

Summary
A week later, Stelle has a new plan. She’s been thinking of tactics on her own in her free time, brainstorming ways she can beat Dan Heng. He described his skill level with the game as “not expert, but decent enough to perform adequately.” That, translating from Dan Heng language to Stelle language means he’s really good. Her plan has to be equally as good, if not better, to have a chance at besting him even once.
And she’s come up with one. It’s unorthodox, but she’s never been opposed to that. In fact, that’s what makes it an even more powerful tactic.
Or: Dan Heng can't figure out how Stelle is beating him at chess
(spoiler: she's eating his pieces when he isn't looking)

Summary
When the two of them are no longer in her kitchen, Wanderer enters the kitchen with silent footsteps and arranges the things he’d brought on the table so that she’ll see them easily. He needs to be quick so as to not be caught; just like a wisp of wind, felt one second and forgotten about the next.
And yet, while he should leave immediately afterward, not tread where he isn’t welcome, Wanderer can’t help but stick around, just long enough to see her reaction. He wants to know what she acts like when she’s reminded of his existence, of the person in debt to her who once caused her a myriad of difficulties.
In the end, Wanderer spends his birthday with those he loves.

Summary
Lumine chuckles, lowly and smooth. Then she saunters closer to him and presses the hilt of her blade into his hand, signaling him to take it. His hold is shaky at best, nothing like the confidence she exudes with every swipe of this same weapon.
“I taught you some things, didn’t I?” Lumine says with a slight tilt of her head.
She did, but he’s still new to it all. Still, remembering what she’s taught him, Kabukimono adjusts his grip and stance, and based on Lumine’s expression, it’s not too bad. Her approval is all he ever wants, and he preens under it.
“I’ll work on sword skills a little more with you,” she murmurs, and encases his hand holding the sword with her own. Gently takes the sword back, and then it disappears at her will.
She'll have to pay for it all.

Summary
His eyes squeeze shut. She can’t tell if it’s from pain or simply exasperation. “I said you ought to be. But I’ll give you a chance to escape, courtesy of my oddly generous mood at this moment.” When she makes no move to leave, he says, “If you were intelligent, Traveler, you’d take the chance I gave you.”
“The only chance I’m interested in taking is one where I run my sword through your chest.”
That draws a singular breathy laugh from Scaramouche. “If you don’t leave, you truly will be forced to fight me.”
“In this state?” She points her sword tip at him, who is still hunched over. “I could defeat you easily.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure…” he drawls, but she is quite sure.
or: the balladeer is not as usual...

Summary
Lumine is nothing special, Scaramouche reminds himself as he steps into the room that is quickly filling with people. He’s been to dozens of these already—more specifically, every single one since her debut—and he knows this. She’s just an idol, nothing different about her, and Scaramouche has no interest in idols; they’re all full of themselves. And the fans, those people are infuriating to say the least. They buzz around Lumine like pesky flies, trying to get closer to her, to touch her and be noticed by her. None of them deserve her attention.
Or: Scaramouche is definitely not a fan of Lumine. At least not in his opinion.

Summary
He isn’t surprised when her breathing starts to slow as she begins to drift off—she’s always tired after work. He’s not quite ready to sleep yet, plus he still has yet to clean up the dinner table, but he’s content with staying alongside her for now.
“Good night,” she says sleepily, adjusting herself just a little to a more comfortable position, slinging an arm over him.
“Mm, good night,” he says, watching the soft twinkle of the lights around him.

Summary
He doesn’t need to stop by to let her know he’s leaving. He knows that. It’s not why he’s here.
“You’re so hardworking, Lumine,” he says in a way that doesn’t sound like a compliment at all. “Slaving away over your work nonstop.”
Slowly, Lumine pivots in her chair. “Not like that’s a bad thing. It’s good to be dedicated.”
“Hm. I might even agree with you there, Lumine.” He says her name like it’s made of a taste he doesn’t like, but keeps trying it out of masochism.
It’s all a performance, any sort of civility between them.

Summary
He starts out rough just like always, blocking out basic shapes and forms before adding more detail. It’s so quiet that you can hear the wet sound of Albedo’s paintbrush across the canvas, smooth like his voice.
“You’re tense,” he says, noting your posture.
“Sorry,” you stammer out, forcing your body to relax again. You’re not sure why exactly this has you so on edge. Maybe it’s the glint in Albedo’s eye—the one you aren’t sure if you’re imagining, or if it’s really there.
or: you, as albedo's art model

Summary
With a groan, Scaramouche says, “Please, you sound exactly like my mother right now. I don’t want to hear it.” He continues rolling out the pastry dough he was working on before she showed up, mainly to give him something to do because the nerves he’s been trying to suppress are starting to creep up again.
“Aw, your poor mother, having to deal with such an irritable son,” Lumine says.
“If I’m so irritable, why won’t you leave me alone?” he challenges.
She shrugs, looking away. “Habit, I guess."
Scaramouche is the son of a bakery owner, and he has something special for Lumine.

Summary
The two of you share a bit of silence, idle chatter filling the background. There’s a long moment before he speaks. “Did you think of me while you were away?”
“Yes.” You trail over his knuckles again. “Did you?”
“Of course I did.” His confession makes your limbs feel all jittery.
After returning from a few day long adventuring mission, Wanderer and you are both desperate.

Summary
If Yae concentrated, she would see it. She would feel it again, the sweet slivers in time. And the sparks would flood her again, just like it had all those years ago.
But she doesn’t. She doesn’t concentrate, she doesn’t look, and she doesn’t feel.
On being apart from your lover.

Summary
Lumine's head tilts, and there’s an expression almost akin to fondness on her face as she says, “You don’t have to worry about me, Scara.”
“I’m not worrying…” he denies with a downward tilt of his mouth, desperately trying to grasp another explanation to give her. “I’m just…making sure you won’t ruin our stage makeup from sleep deprivation or something.”
She laughs at that. “Don’t worry, the company would thoroughly tell me off themselves if I did something like that.”
“...I’d tell you off too,” he says. “So be careful.”
Scaramouche is an idol who's bad at hiding his feelings for his makeup artist, Lumine.
