Summary
Feng Xin’s first memory is of when he was four.
It’s of his birthday party - the one he shared with his twin sister, older by virtue of the six-minutes she’s born prior. Still, despite her entering the world first, it’s his name that’s iced on the very top of the cake and hers on the line below it; ‘Xin-Er and Jiaqi,’ the son, the daughter, the celebrated, and the second.
“Xin-Er, blow out your candles! Make a wish!” His mother urges, as the camera’s flash comes bursting to life. Young as he is, he doesn’t think about his sibling next to him; wobbly-lipped and glassy-eyed, curled in on herself like a broken-backed toad. All he knows how to be is a good son, a happy boy, and so he does as he’s told.
If only he’d known what a mistake that would turn out to be.

Summary
A weird part of Jayce looked forward to their fights. It was the only time he got to see Viktor. Or what ever it was that Viktor had become. Sometimes, it felt like before, when they worked together, those not-so-rare nights their brains were firing on all cylinders, and they finished each other’s thoughts and sentences and equations. Sometimes it felt like Viktor might kill him and Jayce thought that might be okay. If he were normal, he’d probably have stopped going into the field years ago. Conflict of interest plus several old injuries that made him slower (at least half were courtesy of Viktor) plus all the politicking he should actually be doing. But all of that was stupid, he’d worry too much about Cait, and, the quiet part he couldn’t tell her, he wouldn’t get to see Viktor.
Ten years into the war, Viktor saves Jayce's life and Jayce finally shows up at Viktor's doorstep.

“Now that doesn’t seem mighty fair, Doctor,” Aventurine laughs, “I have to sit through therapy, and I only get one wish?”
“Anything you want,” Ratio interjects.
“Anything I want?” Aventurine echoes and Ratio nods.
Aventurine dares to consider Ratio’s deal. There aren’t many things he wants in this world. Except one. Dr. Veritas Ratio. The one person Aventurine can’t read. The one chip Aventurine doesn’t dare gamble away. Ratio is the one card Aventurine keeps close to his chest. Aventurine wants to be ruined by him.
“What if,” Aventurine wets his lips, testing the waters. His left hand is hidden skillfully behind his back. It trembles slightly. Aventurine balls it into a fist. “I want you?” He purrs.
“That can be arranged,” Ratio mutters curtly, his cheeks pink. “Provided you successfully go through my treatment.”
OR: Aventurine is obviously fine and Dr. Ratio is his therapist.

Nai had decided to use these new cycles to try and repair his broken relationship with his brother and atone for his past mistakes. Trying to forget about as much of the past as he can. However he wasn't expecting to be forced to confront his past sins when Legato is suddenly thrusted into his life again.
