    Summary

The sea does not like to be restrained.

Percy Jackson had heard those words from his father before. Now, facing Akhlys, he learns what it means to feel them. Everything he knows changes as a result, but he only cares about one thing: Annabeth, for whom he would go through hell and back.

Meanwhile, Athena confronts some uncomfortable truths, as she finds herself in her own personal hell, a hell of her own making, and finds herself scrambling to put things right.

[Alternative version of the events of HoO starting midway through House of Hades. This is the first of two intended parts, mirroring HoH. It mostly follows Percy and Annabeth early on, while Athena's arc begins properly in chapter 8 and pretty much all the major characters properly become involved later on.]

    Summary

Percy was seven the first time he woke screaming, the taste of blood in his mouth and the howling of hounds resounding throughout his head. His mom rushed into his room to cradle him in her arms. When she asked, he bit his tongue, told her only of dogs chasing after him. He didn’t tell her of the boy with the goat legs, the pain of being torn apart, and the warm light that engulfed him at the end. She held him until he fell back asleep. Elsewhere, a young daughter of Zeus made her final stand.

Percy was nine when he opened his eyes, phantom lightning crawling over his skin and the echoes of a woman’s last moments still ringing in his ears. If he closed his eyes, he could still see the twin onyx eyes staring back at him.

When his mother told him the story of his namesake, of Perseus the son of Zeus, he didn't tell her he already knew. Had already seen a mother and her infant set adrift in a raging storm, watched a boy travel far and slay monsters for the sake of his mother’s safety. But he didn’t tell her this. He was young, but he knew already what happened to people like him. People who see.

He was no prophet; he would not suffer their fate. He would bite his tongue and let the prophecies pass him by.

“She’ll never claim me,” he whispered. Silena shook her head, eyes wild as she looked around for anyone who could be watching.

“My mother doesn’t remember half of her children as it is,” she said with a note of bitterness. “If you do something to impress her, it won’t matter. Return the bolt in her name. She’ll claim you if you act the part. If you stay unclaimed then they'll figure out what you really are," she said, squeezing his hands tightly. Percy's heart sped up.

"I - I don't know the first thing about Aphrodite-"

"My mother was born of sea foam," Silena cut him off. "And if you're really who I think you are... you are the sea. You can pull this off," she said and touched his cheek. "Get the bolt. Survive," she said. Percy swallowed.

"What if I can't act the part?" He asked. Silena's expression went blank for a moment. Slowly, she slipped off her bracelet and placed it in his hands.

"If you're going to be one of us... you better learn."

    Or

AU where Percy has to hide the fact he's a Big Three kid otherwise he'll be killed on the spot. Unfortunately for him, unclaimed kids tend to raise the most suspicion... but he might have found a loophole in the form of Aphrodite.

    Summary

Though Ronan could not be called well-behaved, he was at his most serious and restrained when he felt like God was watching. What a thrill it was, then, to have him panting and hard in the chapel, where God or anyone else might see.

"You do get off on this," Adam said, barely a whisper. "That's hot, Ronan."

The specifics of desire had never brought Adam much trouble, whether it was girls, boys, whatever. But he was discovering that the ways in which he wanted Ronan often filled him with an unfamiliar shame. He'd found that he did not simply want Ronan in ways that seemed tender or loving. He also wanted him in ways that scared him, that would probably scare Ronan.

or: The summer before he leaves for college, Adam starts going to Mass. Ronan avoids an old ghost. They discover a shared interest.
