    “It looks–” he gasps, wanting to say anything else, but there’s only one word in his mind. “–gay?” 

    He cringes outwardly at himself as the words leave his mouth. He feels like a horrible person. Is Shane the first gay man to be homophobic? Also, did he just call his husband gay as an insult? He knows Ilya won’t judge him for saying no to this. But he’s judging himself right now. He doesn’t know why he can’t do it.

    OR: kind of a 5+1 about shane thinking he is a 'bad gay' even when out and married. just vague scenarios from my mind.

    Shane was still trying to settle Max, cupping the back of his head, pressing him back against his chest. Body warmth, familiar scent—that was supposed to be enough. That was supposed to be some innate thing, some animalistic pull newborns had toward their parents, hardwired in them from the beginning. Shane had read that. He was pretty sure he had read that.

    It was probably really bad that his baby didn't have it toward him.

    Or,

    Shane is not bonding with his new baby.

    "Aren't I so lucky," he said, tilting his head back to look up at Shane. "I have very sexy cougar as my husband."

    "We're the same age," Shane reminded him, thumb tracing Ilya's jaw.

    "Not true." Ilya shifted forward on his knees until he was settled between Shane's legs, his hands coming up to cup Shane's stomach. "For the next month, I have a sugar daddy."

    Shane laughed. “So now I’m some old man buying you gifts?”

    "Well,” Ilya said, pressing a kiss to the curve of Shane's stomach through his shirt. Then another. “You are old man. And you are giving me the most precious gift of all. So yes. Is accurate, I would say."

    5 times Ilya and their kids took care of Shane throughout his pregnancy, and 1 time they were reminded just how stubborn Shane Hollander can be.

    There were many things about Shane's upbringing in Canada that Ilya found hard to understand. Like why he insisted on hiking into the brush to find the "perfect" marshmallow sticks for a bonfire. To Ilya, it seemed like a lot of unnecessary effort and a high risk of mosquito bites when they could just buy a pack of skewers and be done with it.

    But, like with everything that came with Shane Hollander, Ilya had learned to love it.

    And now here he was, years later, the one leading Shane and their kids through the woods behind the cottage on this warm summer evening.

    Or,

    Shane and Ilya take their kids on a weekend getaway to the cottage.

    "Ouchie?"

    "Just a little, itty bitty one." Or maybe his brain was hemorrhaging, but Ilya tried hard to shove that thought down.

    Mila frowned. "I wanna give Daddy a bandaid."

    "This is a special bandaid only Papa can give," Ilya said, thinking rapidly and coming up with very little. "You can give him a special Mila-only bandaid when we see him later. Okay?"

    Mila nodded slowly. She swallowed her fruit snacks and looked at Ilya in the mirror. "You have to ‘member to kiss his ouchie, Papa."

    Ilya reached his hand back between the seats and held it there until her small fingers wrapped around his.

    "I will kiss Daddy's ouchie."

    Or,

    Shane gets injured during practice. It is, to put mildly, a lot for his very attached husband and children to handle.
