“Why do I even—Hello? You just saved my life?” She thought back to Monday. “Actually, this is the second time this week you saved my life! Plus the whole school! And that includes my little brother. So of course I care. Even if Dr. Spectra thinks I shouldn’t.”
The ghost looked away from her. “I’m a ghost.”
It was Jazz’s turn with the withering look. “Oh, really? I hadn’t noticed.”

Frustrated by the limits of his own field, he brings the text to philologist Asa Fell, a specialist in ancient languages tasked with translating humanity’s vast backlog of unread history.
As Anthony and Asa search for references to the same celestial object, fragments of other lives begin to interrupt the narrative. Imagine memory here, not as something spiritual, but physical: impressions carried forward through matter itself. Neither man fully understands what is happening to them. A deep, centuries-old voice rumbles through the ground, making the very hills shake with fear.
Oh dear.
Or,
Sir Aziraphale is sent to slay a dragon, and rescue a damsel in distress. The thing is, he's never actually slayed a dragon before, nor rescued a damsel from a tall tower. But how hard can it be?
