He straightened up. “Yeah, I was gonna make Noob some cookies.” He turned to Taph and Shedletsky (they’d returned to awkwardly staring each other down) and spoke. “You’re all welcome to help."
Shedletsky looked at Taph for a few more seconds before shifting his gaze to Elliot. “Sure, no prob. Why’re you making them cookies?” The man stood, stretching.
“Er– tomorrow is the one year anniversary of their forsakening. I thought I might try to do something nice to get their mind off of it.”
The other three paused at that.

“Kris?” Noelle asked out loud. They could barely tell the difference, but they jolted anyway at being addressed. They looked at Noelle and she looked… she looked terrified. Moreso than she had in a long time. She might’ve looked this scared in Cyber World, but… Kris was trying to forget that as much as they could.
Noelle was looking at their wrist, and suddenly the cooling silver clasped around it burned and stung their skin. They moved their right hand to cover the accessory, but the damage was already done.
Noelle could barely force out her words. “Why are you wearing… my watch?”

Most people drifted to their personal cabins for 30 minutes before drifting back in, as usually at around midnight was when Elliot finished with dinner. The one usual notable exception to the 11:30 crowd was Two Time, who always had to be retrieved from their cabin. However, tonight, they drifted in at 11:35 to sit on the couch next to the stairs.

Summary
Berdly doesn't understand where this sudden urge came from. It's usually just a territorial response when people get too close to his nest or his treasured trinkets, so why does he feel it when his rival is being mocked for things outside of their feeble control? This is terrible.
Kris hates that they feel like this. Why the hell do they have this urge to just… defend the dumb nerd bird from their class whenever they catch him being made fun of? Why do they want him close at all times?! This sucks.
Or, five times Kris and Berdly experience unexplainable compulsions that directly link to each other, and one time that culminates into a realization for both of them.

And with such adorable eyes, how could he not try to get these kids into the family? Well, getting a call from Alfred about Bruce fostering a new kid named Billy Batson would probably put a wrench in what he could be ready for… Well, three new brother would be fine, right?
A.K.A. Billy Batson, (a kid with gods in his head) Peter Parker, (a kid with dusted Avengers in his head) and Evan Afton, (a kid with dead ghost children in his head) all conveniently end up in the Batfam’s ever present grasp.
