The first night they got together, Danny stayed over and didn’t leave for three days. The next time it was just over a week. Then the next time was indefinitely, at least Steve hoped it was: Danny’s clothes on his floor and the kids’ toys in the spare room and four plates set up for dinner every other night.

“Was a hack,” she scoffs.
“ – gave him a copy of the X-rays to prove what Mamo was saying was true!” His whisper raises in exasperation at the end. “Can we not argue about this again? Not right now.” He glances down at Joanie pointedly.
“I’m worried about you,” she says. “Do you plan on being single for the rest of your life?”
“Yes,” Steve says, firmly.

THE Hanahaki fic. Great characterization, solid angst, absurdly believable in the frame of a hard to believe trope--and a version of John McGarrett still superior to canon.
