“Hollander? You are still here?” Rozanov called, breaking the TV static silence filling Shane’s head. He blinked.
“Uh. Yeah, just leaving,” he answered, surprised by how steady his voice sounded. Good, that was good. He knew he couldn’t show Rozanov any weakness if he wanted to keep coming back.
But did he want to come back if it made him feel like this?
“Door is too heavy? Or I fuck you too good, you cannot move legs,” came Rozanov’s taunting response. Shane could practically see the tilted smirk on his face, cigarette smoke wafting around his freshly-showered curls.
“Fuck off, Rozanov,” Shane muttered.

Middle-Aged Meet Cute AU – Frank plays a local festival gig and accidentally catches feelings.
The drive is quiet, but Frank’s mind is louder than a megaphone in a wind tunnel. Every thought arrives with sirens and flashing lights, each one chirping like malware pop-ups on a caffeine bender. He tries to focus on the road – cracked pavement, people picking their noses at traffic lights, Subaru Guy auditioning for Mad Max. But his mind keeps rerouting back to Gerard. Not in a hearts-and-flowers way, more like a ‘who even is this guy and why is he lodged in my frontal lobe’ kind of way. He flips through radio stations, but either he’s no longer their target demo or he’s officially old enough to bitch about autotune.

“Masochist?” Frank supplies with an eye roll, mumbling around his cigarette, flicking his lighter and inhaling deeply as Ray laughs on the other end of the phone.

Frank is drunk, but he’s not that drunk; at least not drunk enough for Brian to pull him out of the Killswitch party and lecture him for ten minutes about raging responsibly. Frank had tried to argue that he was fine and to stop being such a wet blanket, but he quickly lost the argument when he wavered on his feet a little too far and stumbled into a potted Ficus in the hallway. Brian gave him a deep frown – the one that says he’s being super serious and cracking any jokes is probably a bad idea if Frank doesn’t want to be hogtied to the back of the bus and dragged on the highway behind it.
