They sat silent in the McDonalds for almost half an hour. Percy found a peeling corner on the wooden table, clear flakes of what was probably a mix of varnish and grime. They got their food ten minutes in, and Nico wasn't looking anywhere near him as he ate his way through his bag, stuffing fries in his face with a speed that made Percy marvel that he wasn't choking.Something occurred to Percy as he flicked another clear flake off the table. "Aren't you under doctors orders not to shadow travel unless necessary?"
Nico's lips pinched, eyes narrowing in on him. "Yes." His stare made Percy squirm more than Lupa's had, but he sat still- or as still as normal for him. His foot was tapping at a different pace than his fingers on the table, fingers still picking at the garnish. He went to open his mouth, protesting, but Nico's eyes narrowed further. Flashes of Nico showing up to fight Kronos with an army at twelve years old flashed before his eyes, and Percy shut his mouth with the little bits of self-preservation that had survived his teenage years.

Adrian wishes he was the one who killed Chris’s dad.
Well, obviously. Adrian always wishes he was the one who got to kill every bad guy. Like, when he found out Osama bin Laden was dead, he was kind of disappointed.
But this is a different thing. Adrian got to kill plenty of other Nazis that day—more than Peacemaker, actually, he’d like to point out—so it’s not really about missing out. It’s more like, he wishes he just got it together and murdered Chris’s dad in that prison. Or maybe a long, long time ago. Then maybe Chris wouldn’t be acting like this.
