Summary
Harua looks at Nicholas, then grins, his head tilting to the side. He even flutters his eyelashes a little bit, going for his most innocent look. “Wouldn’t you say it kind of looks like Euijoo-hyung?”
“Oh, um, what?” stutters Nicholas, intelligent. He goes beet red between one second and the next.
or: Unbeknownst to either Euijoo or Nicholas, the maknaes have made a bet.

Summary
If Taki’s being honest with himself, he does not care about Harua-and-Maki’s love story and he definitely does not care where he stands with regards to them. Except that he is a big fat liar, and he does care where he stands, but only because stupid Maki hasn’t kissed him yet. And Taki is a good boy, so he’s been waiting patiently, but even good boys have their limits, apparently—
or: Taki didn’t even know he had been waiting his whole life for something like this. There are times it finds you anyway.

Summary
Because, when it comes to Nicholas, everything always comes back to Euijoo. It would make sense that his Twitter account is no different.
or: Nicholas runs a lovesick, anonymous Twitter account where he dumps all of his feelings for his best friend in the form of poetic tweets. When the account goes viral overnight, Nicholas has to deal with thousands of people trying to figure out who he is, while also trying not to fall even harder for someone he can never have. It is not a problem. It won’t be a problem, because Euijoo will never find the account. Right?

Summary
Nicholas looks at Fuma, looks at Yūdai. He purses his lips. “Do the two of you also think that Euijoo has been looking . . . stressed, lately?”
Yūdai sounds weary when he speaks. “Like, more than usual, you mean?”
or: Nicholas has had a lot of stupid ideas in his life. This one probably takes the cake.

Summary
In steps what must be the teacher’s assistant, Euijoo. Nicholas looks at him, looks away, and then immediately looks back, this time with intent. Euijoo’s taller than Nicholas would have expected, and moves with the grace of a puppy that has grown into his limbs overnight and still can’t quite decide on where to put all of them, bumping into the lectern as he walks towards the professor. His hair is styled into a quite frankly atrocious bowl cut, and tapioca pearl eyes peer into the class from behind rectangular, thick-rimmed glasses, giving him the air of a vaguely confused goldfish. Most of the lines of his body are hidden below the chunkiest sweater vest despite the already pleasant weather, and to top it off, he is wearing chinos.
Nicholas doesn’t think he’s ever wanted anyone more.
or: Perpetually tired fashion design student Nicholas does not think there is anything worse than the Statistics class he is forced to attend if he wants to graduate. In walks Byun Euijoo, the teacher’s assistant, who is nerdy, awkward, and quite possibly the man of Nicholas’ dreams.

Summary
As he finishes speaking, Yūdai turns to Nicholas with an intense gaze. Nicholas almost imagines hearing him ask, Where are your roots, Nicholas?
I would like to put my roots down where Euijoo is also, Nicholas would probably reply, if he was being really honest with himself, if he dared to speak those words out loud and have them become true in that way. I bloom most splendidly whenever he is looking at me, after all.
or: You’d think that Nicholas would have this whole being in love with your best friend thing figured out after six years. Euijoo kissing him complicates matters.

Summary
Once he steps through the door into the humid summer air, he tries Nicholas’ phone number one last time. It rings twice, three times, and then goes through. “Euijoo-yah,” sighs Nicholas across the line as soon as he picks up. “I’m so sorry. Something came up.”
His voice sounds off. Euijoo plays with his bottom lip. “Are you okay, my dearest?” he says, his heart aching quietly.
or: Theirs is a love story, a story about love.

Summary
Leaning closer, Fuma grins, noticing the way Kei shifts into him. “I don’t beg,” he says, voice low. “And you wouldn’t be the one fucking me, anyway.”
Delightedly, Kei shivers and bites his lip, looking at Fuma through his lashes, his eyes blown wide. “Is that a promise?"
or: Apparently Fuma is not strong enough to say no to Yūdai when he asks so prettily.

Summary
Jo has never been the best with words, but that just means that everything he says stems directly from the heart. Yuma treasures each and every word that spills past those perfectly pink lips of his, latches onto them like a man starving, like he can engrave them on the sharp knobs of his spine to carry them around for the rest of his life. It is like Jo pries open Yuma’s mouth with his words and breathes air directly into his lungs.
Until Jo showed up, Yuma hadn’t even realised he’d been drowning. Now, he finally knows to kick up to the surface and inhale the fresh air.
or: Yuma learns a thing or two about growing up, growing together, and falling in love. Throughout it all, Jo never wavers.

Summary
Yes, if you’d asked Harua just a week ago, he’d say his life was perfect. He’s in the perfect pack, has the best friends in the world, is happy and proud being a were, and he’s always had his Maki—that has always gone without saying.
And now Taki has gone and thrown that all out of the window.
or: That’s the problem with weres—you can’t hide a damn thing from them.

Summary
Nicholas rolls his eyes, the corner of his mouth pulling upwards into—and Euijoo hates to say it, because it sounds like a fucking cliche, and he is so not that kind of boy—but it’s a smirk. Wang Nicholas is smirking at Byun Euijoo. “All of my friends know each other,” he says, slowly, leaning forward. “And their friends know each other too, ad infinitum. So I need someone outside of that group, since they’d all know immediately that I was lying if I showed up with someone they knew. You get me?”
“You need me because I’m boring,” Euijoo summarises. “And because nobody knows me.”
“Something like that,” says Nicholas, and he looks way too casual for someone who’s asking another boy to fake date him.
or: Nicholas is really hot, really rich, and really far out of Euijoo’s league. So, what does he need Euijoo for?

Summary
“Euijoo’s cute,” Fuma says, grinning when the corner of Yūdai’s lip twitches. “He’s looking for someone to hunt, last I heard, but he hasn’t found the right person yet.”
Yūdai tilts his head to the side. “And you haven’t taken him up on the offer?”
A smile spreads across Fuma’s face, languid and unhurried. He leans forward, his gaze piercing as if he can see right through Yūdai. Somehow, Yūdai doesn’t doubt that he can. “Well, you see, Yūdai-kun,” he drawls. “I’m not the type to get hunted.”
or: Yūdai has been running for a long time. Fuma makes him want to come home.

Summary
Nicholas nods, biting his bottom lip. “And you?” he says, raising his eyebrows slightly. “Not dancing with anyone?”
“Well.” Euijoo shuffles his feet. “You did just catch me in the act of trying to sneak out.”
“A waste,” drawls Nicholas, and this time, he does make it clear that his eyes are tracing Euijoo from head to toe, dark with intent. “But perhaps I am the one in luck, if there wasn’t anyone who caught your eye before.”
or: Euijoo typically does not really like going to parties, but he can't bring himself to regret going to this one.

Summary
“Euijoo asked me to join my pack,” Yūdai tells Nicholas, all casually.
So casually, in fact, that Nicholas picks up a piece of meat from the grill, mashes it between his teeth and swallows, before he answers. “Is that abnormal?”
or: Nicholas and Euijoo and the rest of their lives.

Summary
Nicholas doesn’t even bother with niceties. He fights to keep his voice even, though he can’t really keep the disgust out of his tone. “Pray tell me why there’s a dead fucking bird on my doorstep this morning.”
“Aww,” Fuma coos immediately, voice way too knowing. “Your boy's courting you.”
“It means he doesn’t think you can provide for yourself!” Yūdai howls, somewhere in the background.
or: Nicholas figures out what he wants.

Summary
Round, is the first thing Nicholas registers upon meeting Euijoo—round cheeks, round eyes, round curls curving around his head in a halo. And yet there’s something about him, something that sets even Nicholas’ pathetic human instincts on edge. Like he knows, unconsciously, that the boy on the other side of the booth is dangerous, even if his wrists are thin enough that Nicholas could probably wrap his thumb and pointer finger all the way around them and have room to spare. Well, you’ve done it now, Wang Yixiang! howls the voice in the back of his head.
As if he can read Nicholas’ mind, the corners of Euijoo’s lips curl up into a kittenish grin.
or: Nicholas wants to get hunted. Euijoo is the werewolf who accepts. This is all Murata fucking Fuma’s fault.
