“Am not a coward, Hollander,” Rozanov interrupts his rambling, and even his eyebrows manage to look—not displeased but disapproving? Shane is not quite sure what to make of the current expression on his face.
“Um,” says Shane. “What?”
Rozanov gestures between the two of them, almost impatient. “I can pretend to date you for a bit to please the monkeys in the circus. Everybody thinks we are dating now, anyway, so we might as well use it. And paparazzi are stupid. Even though Scott Hunter is a prick, he is a prick that does not deserve this kind of negative attention.” He shrugs, almost casual, and looks Shane up and down. “Plus, am into boys as well as girls. Is honestly not a problem for me.”
or: Shane digs himself quite a big hole, and now everyone believes he is dating none other than Ilya Rozanov. This would be no problem if he and Ilya 1) were indeed dating and 2) could actually stand each other.

So yeah, the thing. The gene. Sometimes you have it and nothing happens. And sometimes, like Shane is experiencing right now, everything changes. Technically, he had already passed the window in which the gene normally expresses itself. But clearly biology does not care about strict confines. Clearly—because after Shane hangs up the call with his mother, he peels back his top lip with trembling fingers and stares at the little fangs poking down through the roof of his mouth.

My cousin invited us to spend the summer there at her lake house, and we could hardly say no to that. I will leave you a pair of keys so that you can still come and go.”
Wide-eyed, Ilya blinks at her. “Um?”
“You won’t be all alone,” says Yuna, immediately. “We have a son. Shane?”

"(...)he turns around to where Shane is still standing, half-lost and half-awkward, and takes a handful of steps forward so that he can back Shane up against the nearest wall. Shane goes willingly, perhaps even a bit pliantly.
“What are you doing?” says Shane, voice small. They’re the same height, but he still manages to make it look like he is looking up at Ilya. He is also, Ilya notices with glee, not trying to break free from his hold at all.
Ilya’s gaze drops down to Shane’s perfectly pouty mouth. “What?” he hums. “You don’t want to be praised for a job well done, Shane Hollander?”
Shane swallows. “I did not say that.”
Trailing down one hand, Ilya squeezes his waist briefly. “Good boy.” And then he closes the gap between them and captures Shane’s mouth with his own."

Taerae paces the room. “Okay, maybe I can just tell him we broke up? Or hire someone to come with me. Or I could convince Gyuvin that my partner is sick. Or—”

Taerae freezes, looking at Matthew in disbelief. Matthew is a piece of eye candy, no doubt, but Matthew is really hot, really drool-worthy, and really straight.Months ago, when Taerae assured his cousin Gyuvin that he was in a relationship, he didn't even bat an eye. Of course, that proclamation is coming back to bite him in the ass when Gyuvin sends out his wedding invitations—along with a plus one. Surprisingly, Taerae's roommate, Matthew, offers to be his fake boyfriend for the weekend and sell the act as necessary. The only problems? Taerae harbours a massive, massive crush on Matthew, and Matthew is very, very straight, and both those problems get blow way out of proportion with Matthew flirting with and attempting to kiss Taerae at every waking (and sleeping!) moment. But is there more to Matthew's actions, or is it all just an act playing with Taerae's heart?
