Summary
When Eddie learns he and Buck got drunk-married at Chimney’s bachelor party, he goes on a metaphorical journey to figure out the best way to be a good husband.
“Now you get it. Damage done. We didn’t know,” Buck shrugs, “now we do, so we can just …”
Eddie’s mind races to finish Buck’s sentence:
Park our cars side-by-side in my driveway forever.
Hang all our clothes in the same closet so I have better access to that blue hoodie I love.
Kiss.
“… get an annulment.”
“What?” The word slips out of Eddie’s mouth before he can stop it.
Buck frowns.
“You want to …” Eddie drops his fork to his plate. He’s suddenly not hungry, despite how much he loves Buck’s omelets. His voice wobbles when he adds, “You don’t want to be married to me?”Bookmarked by itzSmooches

Summary
Buck doesn’t believe he was ever meant to hear the words. He did though, and he wishes that he could change that fact. Because when he was hearing them, he felt like his chest was caving in, as if Eddie had physically hit him in the chest instead of feeding the potential renter what they wanted to hear.
“No ties here, everything that matters is in Texas.”
It rings in his ears over and over again. His mind is taunting him, not allowing him to just let it go. Buck feels childish, he feels exhausting. It’s ridiculous and he’s even aware of it, and he thinks that being aware of it makes it so much worse.
But then Chris calls Buck and says he wants to come stay with Buck. So those words get put on the back burner.

They help him together and, in doing so, strengthen themselves as a family. Steve lets himself be cared for, remembers important people from his past, and finally allows himself to move on in some of the ways he never thought he could.
