    Leo Valdez has lived and died for the gods. Their war has shaped his life since he was a baby. With Gaia defeated, he sort of hopes he can finally rest. He has friends and some semblance of home to return to for the first time since he was eight years old. Just this once, he allows himself to hope the good things might stick.

    But the gods aren’t done with them just yet, and by the time Leo finds his way back, Jason is gone.

    This time, Leo decides he’s done just taking the Fates’ bullshit lying down. If getting his best friend back means striking a deal with the gods and venturing into the Underworld… well, it’s probably not even the most reckless thing he’s ever done.

    The caveat of said deal? He has to trust Jason will follow him, or his self-doubt will doom them both.

    And after the life he’s lived, Leo is so intricately familiar with self-doubt that he could probably trademark the word.

    —

    Or: The only possible way for Orpheus to succeed is if he learns to think of himself as a person worth loving.

    He wondered what the Underworld would be like. Would he remember everything? Would it even be an escape at all?

    He wondered if he’d recognize anyone there. Would he walk right past his mom without realizing it? Or even Jason?

    Leo’s thoughts screeched to a halt. Jason. The Underworld.

    Oh, gods. Wait a minute, wait a minute—

    The myth came rushing back to him, bringing on a thrum of adrenaline. He jolted up, his heart banging in his skull.

    This was stupid. He was being stupid, and this was nothing but a desperate grasp at hope. He hadn’t worked through his grief yet, and he was still bargaining. There was no way he could do it, no way this could even formulate into a plan.

    Even so, his mind whirred, trying to fit nonexistent puzzle pieces together.

    But it was so clear, so painfully obvious that he couldn’t believe he hadn’t noticed it before. Of course he loved Leo. It was as simple as breathing, as blatant as the color of the sky. The sun rose every morning, the birds sang, the tides came in and out, and Jason loved Leo. It was just part of the way of the world.

    Trials of Apollo re-write, except I do what Rick was too cowardly to do (VALGRACE!!), and from the POV of Leo and Jason

    - I am currently rewriting many of the previous chapters, this is NOT abandoned I am just editing much of my previous writing as I wrote much of it over a year ago, and I'm not a fan of how I portrayed the characters in the earlier chapters, and my writing has evolved since then. I WILL continue with updates once I'm finish editing previous chapters.
