“Nagi,” he says, turning to the entry keypad, “Passcode.”
“What,” Nagi says intelligently, and Reo curses alcohol.
“Passcode, Nagi, what’s the passcode? So that you can finally get in, drink water, and sleep.”
“Oh,” Nagi blinks slowly, “Zero-eight-one-two-zero-five-zero-six.”
Reo froze. His fingers couldn’t touch the keys. “It’s the same as before. You didn’t…” he gulps, “You didn’t change it?”
Zero-eight-one-two-zero-five-zero-six. Basically, eight-twelve and five-six. It was a combination of their birthdays, one that Reo had combined on the spot when they were still in the process of moving in. Reo lets out a shaky exhale, and with trembling fingers, he pressed the keys.
“Of course I wouldn’t change it,” Nagi says, as the door unlocks. “How will Reo come back home if he doesn’t know the passcode?”

“Are you dumb, Nagi Ai?” The man slammed his fist against the table, catching the attention of other customers, probably thinking if he has no sense of shame. Probably yes, but then the surname of Nagi added to her name caught her off-guard.
She stood up. “Sorry. I need to go to the bathroom.”--Ai, an avid fan of Blue Lock and devoted fan of NagiReo, dies a not-so tragic death and is reborn in the manga of Blue Lock itself years before the canon takes place! He coughed into his fist, as he forced out, “Uhm, Reo.”
Reo doesn’t answer. He’s busy sipping his coffee (Nagi remembers how Reo used to like his coffee, he’ll always add an extra spoon of sugar, always with milk, sometimes with cream, because Reo liked everything sweet.) with eyes closed, and a posture too guarded, it was like a slap across Nagi’s face, because it wasn’t like this before, there was no need to be guarded, there was only warmth, comfort, and intimacy, not— not this.
He repeats again, “Reo.”
Reo doesn’t answer, as if he doesn’t hear him. Nagi felt his heart quickening, how everything suddenly felt heavy as he couldn’t bring himself to approach a possibility that cliche romance trope that dramas portray for angst, he hopes for something less serious than that, and Nagi reaches out with his hand—
or; Reo gets eliminated during Second Selection. Nagi becomes a professional soccer player with his entire life laid out before him that he never asked for. Seven years after their separation, Nagi reunites with Reo in his apartment building, except he learns something about him that has forever changed Reo's life, and it just so conveniently shook his world, too.

As he approached, the frills of his headdress bounced delicately, too delicately, like each bounce was designed specifically to assassinate Nagi on sight. And then, as if the universe hadn’t tortured him enough already, Reo’s face lit up with the kind of smile that made Nagi feel like several doomsday explosions were being set off in his head.
"Oh, Nagi!" Reo called out, waving with the enthusiasm of someone who had not just obliterated Nagi's heart by existing too beautifully. He rushed over, hugged the circular tray prop close to his chest, and struck a pose far too natural for someone in a maid outfit. "How may I be of service, master~?"
Nagi’s brain bluescreened. Completely. Shutdown. System failure.

Nagi's shoulder slumps a bit as he mutters something about loot and drop rates. Something completely irrelevant to Reo's rambles. He wants to slam his back against Nagi's, teasing him for not listening with no shame. But he's not in the mood for playful roughhousing.
Instead, an idea sparked in Reo's head.
If Nagi wants nonsense, then he'll get nonsense.

His own words hit him a second too late. His hand flies to his mouth.
And before he can backtrack-
“Kay.”
