Mycroft has never had any use for interesting things happening to him. But he has always had a use for cleverness and for efficiency, and Moriarty had offered so much of both in spades that it had seemed a fair trade-off for accepting the presence of someone who insisted upon being interesting.
There is nothing quite so disruptive to a routine as a Moriarty.
