    Summary

“Ilya, what are we gonna do?” Shane says.

Ilya finishes whatever he has been doing on his phone, and tosses it gently to the bed beside him. He crosses the room to Shane, stands in front of him, squeezes into his shoulders with his big hands, rubbing them like he means to warm them up.

“Looks like we will have a little vacation,” he says, with a big obnoxious grin.

Boston and Montreal are sent to Paris to play against each other in an exhibition series in January 2017. Ilya and Shane decide to stay in Paris for one more night. Just one more night, so they can talk. Maybe finally understand each other.

They aren't expecting a volcano to erupt in Iceland and close all the airspace in Europe, leaving them stranded there. Together.

    Summary

He left. He just got up and fucking left.

Ilya sat there, arm extended, burying the crushing, heavy feeling hammering his chest with a mask of indifference.

He desperately backtracked. Hollander, he had said, but the damage was done.

He had called Shane- Hollander- by his first name. He heard his own name back. It was thrilling in a way he couldn’t articulate, and he didn’t want to think about why he couldn’t. He didn’t want to think about himself at the store, picking out the right brand of Ginger Ale and placing it carefully in the fridge. He didn’t want to think about the thrill of Hollander in his very own bed. He didn’t even want to think about the meal-prepped tuna melt that conveniently fit Hollander’s bird-food diet. He didn’t want to think about the fact that he knew the parameters of Hollander’s bird-food diet.

Or In the immediate aftermath of the Tuna Melt incident, Ilya copes through Shane Hollander edits on Twitter.

That was until he met Ilya Rozanov, a pediatric travel nurse and suddenly finds himself rewriting the care plan of his own life and realizing not all nursing diagnoses have to be a bad one.
