Tooru sits on his bed, staring at his phone, awaiting a call. He hasn’t heard from Hajime at all in the last 24 hours besides a lone text that said Tatsuki has a cold. It's fine - Hajime's a busy person, and timezones are a bitch, but it's a Sunday now and he's scheduled to call. Tooru can't be the one to pick up the phone - Hajime will do it, if he has time.
The phone rings and Tooru snatches it up, clicking Accept immediately. “Hello?”

Summary
It's 1988. Grian and Mumbo are roommates living in the US. Mumbo leaves on a solo camping trip at Grian's suggestion to get away from his job for a while. But when he fails to check in at the end of his trip, Grian is forced to report him as a missing person. And now the clock is ticking.
It's 1989. Grian takes a job in Shoshone National Forest as a fire lookout, prepared to spend the summer alone in the wilderness. But his primary goal isn't finding forest fires: it's finding Mumbo, who went missing in this location a year ago, alive and well. He expects to be alone.
