Jayce stopped a few respectful feet away from their circle. He held something in his hand. A single, perfect twilight bloom, its petals a deep, velvety purple that seemed to absorb the firelight. It was a rare flower, one that only grew in high, sunny clearings.
He cleared his throat, the sound a low, nervous rumble. “I... My name is Jayce” he began, his voice slightly hoarse. He extended the flower, a tremble in his large, calloused fingers. “And I would be honored… if you would accept this. And… and my courtship.”
Viktor’s mind went blank. He opened his mouth to politely, gently, refuse. To let this magnificent bull down easy so he could find a mate worthy of him. But the words wouldn’t come. All he could see was the earnest hope in Jayce’s eyes, the nervous tremble in the hand holding the flower. This was was insane. He didn't want this. He has always been better off on his own.
But… what if?
What if, for once, he didn’t overthink it? What if he reached out and took the ridiculous, beautiful offering? What if he allowed himself, just for a little while, to feel the warmth of that gaze, to bask in the impossible notion that someone like Jayce could want someone like him?Bookmarked by kittyq

“I expect you’ll have fixed the mistakes in those product designs you’ve been drooling over.” Jayce listens, his hands frozen at his sides, torn between helping or completely taking over this unnecessary act of undressing.
“By noon is acceptable. You could use the extra sleep, you look like death.” Viktor says with a hollow laugh, his hands momentarily freezing at the middle of the row of buttons. Jayce swallows. But then Viktor moves again and finishes the job. His hands raise to splay over Jayce’s broad shoulders, smoothing the fabric off of his body. It makes a shiver pass through tense muscles. His vest had been long abandoned elsewhere in the lab. Jayce tends to overheat, especially during trying times. Viktor didn’t have to do this, but it wasn’t a thought in Jayce’s mind to tell him to stop. And suddenly, the only thing actually going through his mind is how much is Viktor going to help out here?
Jayce doesn’t know if this is intentional, but he thinks he just might be getting seduced.
It certainly feels that way.Series
