    “Hey, one last thing, Captain, before we go on out…” He trailed off, his voice quiet and weak. He watched as Jaque turned to look at him, stopping walking and backing up with his back leaning against the wall.

    “Yes?” It came out as barely a whisper. Everything felt so intimate and secretive. Jaque’s ears twitched in anticipation, showcasing he was listening, like Mratyn was about to reveal some crazy top secret confession of his own.

    Maybe he was. He hadn’t thought that far. There were so many questions he had- so many things he felt a deep sense of desperation to say. Yet, not enough time.

     

     

    I know you. I’ve always known you. We’ve met before. Nothing here is real. You’re not real. Come with me, please. Please, so I can prove to myself that you’re real. I’m in love with you.     He inhaled and his breath got caught in his throat.

    “I’ll make you a deal that you’ll only have to pay half the rate the next time you land on one of my properties,” Impulse said, holding out his hand.

    All it took was a quick glance at Tango's own money amount versus Impulse’s to tell him that would not be a good deal.

    “Absolutely no-” Before he could finish, his phone started ringing and vibrating as if it was about to jump off the table.

    That could only be one person.

    Picking it up, the screen only confirmed his worst fear.

    It was Pearl.

    A part of Tango held on to the fact that maybe she was just calling to tell him that the drop was successful…but he knew she wouldn’t have risked it.

    He could feel the others staring at him as he answered and raised the phone to his ear.

    “Hello?”

    :Or an AU where PET runs a mail system to transport illegal information under the hero's nose. What happens when that goes wrong and Tango is the only one left to pick up the pieces...

    Tango could see someone wearing a red sweater snicker. “Is there anything we can do?”

    The bonded dragon huffed smoke onto the red sweatshirt person whose name Tango couldn’t remember for the life of him. The guy should be lucky Pearl’s dragon didn’t just incinerate him right then and there because the dragons despised disrespect….

    “Well, I would say breathe, but some take annoyance to that if you’re a loud breather,” Pearl shrugged. “Be yourself, your respectful self and you have a slight chance of surviving this.”

    :Or an AU where Tango is dragon rider who is allowed a chance to bond with a dragon. The dragon that finds him is more alike than Tango might realize at first...
