The background is a trans flag, composed of coloured textured fabric. The foreground has a character with brown skin, brown eyes, and short brown curly hair. They're smiling and they're wearing blue armour and holding a staff.

  5. Summary

This is a Dragon Age modern Thedas AU! It's a collection of loosely connected or unconnected fics that exist in the same universe that exists in my head. Fics within are mostly based around the central kick-off event for the series: the abolishing of Circles as a system and apostacy as a concept in Thedas in the modern day.

"Verso," Sciel says, smiling brightly, "I'm starting to think you don't want our little expedition to succeed."

    ---

Verso's working toward another end. Sciel won't let that happen.

    Summary

This was what I was hoping for,” Verso breathed. She had half a mind to tease him again—hoping for warmth and sun in France, in January—but refrained. Her boy looked infinitely brighter. “Clea hasn’t added anything to the water, has she?”

Aline uttered a surprised laugh. “No. And I’ve restricted your father to the deepest reaches of the ocean.”

“Good. Then it’s still safe to swim.”

(Aline is commissioned to paint a seascape. The Dessendre family uses it as an excuse to take an impromptu vacation.)

    Summary

“I like it here,” Alicia whispers, breath tickling against her skin. “It’s not so….” Her brow furrows as she searches for the word. “Dead. It’s good.”

Neither Clea nor Verso had ever shown much interest in her glasshouse. Alicia frequents the space religiously, listening as she speaks of the different plants, settling on her lap when Aline paints. She is at peace amongst the green.

Why should she punish Alicia for showing an interest?

Or: brief moments between Alicia and Aline across the years, before and after the fire.

    Summary

For all that Clea hated other people’s depictions of her, especially her parents’, there is one portrait of her that still exists as it was originally painted, unsullied and untouched by her hand. It’s an old one, an imperfect portrait painted by an unpracticed hand, with none of Aline’s verisimilitude and carries none of Renoir’s gravitas.

What it has, instead, is all of Verso’s love.

    Summary

Theirs was a family of strong wills. It was frustrating, at times—Clea did recognize the irony. The draw of sculpture was in the satisfaction of molding clay in just exactly the way she knew it should be molded. Even painting couldn’t give her that same control. But outside of the workshop, no one listened to her, Alicia least of all. They listened to Verso, of course; he’d spent his painting lessons daydreaming and come out the other side with a honeyed tongue. Clea could mold clay, bend metal, paint any image she wished exactly as she wished it. But by the time she was old enough to realize talent and dedication weren’t enough to bend the world to her will as well, it was too late.

Three conversations Clea and Verso have about their sister.
