‘Have a nice swim,’ huh? Roy thought bitterly, coughing again and spitting phlegm into the mud beside him. He sat back on his ankles and wiped the corner of his mouth on his sleeve, frowning at the equally drenched jacket, compliments of their “escort.”
Was the entire inspection order a farce? Or was it an interception of official plans? Either way, he would have to worry about it later. He had to focus on surviving the oncoming night.

Pain was something Edward had grown accustomed to. It had been a constant companion ever since losing his arm and leg.
During his recovery period he had taken the time to research the effects of losing limbs.
Phantom pain, chronic pain, swelling and pain from overuse. Basically everything had the possibility and high chance of causing pain.
He had stayed as quiet as he could about it. Not wanting to guilt Al with it, he knew his brother would feel guilty if he knew about how much everything hurt.
