It had started off with a couple hate tweets here and there. Nothing unusual, every hockey player had haters, especially ones as prominent and talented as him and Hollander.
Ilya never listened to what people on the Internet said. Why should he care what random people behind a screen thought of him? Especially when they were Scott Hunter fans. Or worse, Pike fans.
He thought it was the same for Shane, who barely ever used social media in the first place, let alone look up his name on them to see what people were saying about him. But Ilya was wrong.

The first few years are hard. She wakes up with a scream in her throat, visions of stars and bodies up in front of her eyes, suffocating in icy water pulling her down, down, down. She can't help but wish for the life she could have had with the one who extracted so precious a promise.
But it gets better. Life moves on, and so does she. She leaves the RMS Titanic behind, even if the ship of dreams never quite leaves her.

Hopeful and motivated, his brain is racing with plans even before he’s pulled himself out of his universe’s giant, fallen shield-free version of New York Harbor. By the time he’s back to his undecorated, barely furnished studio apartment, he’s composed a to-do list in his head. It’s not specific enough to be called a plan—just goals, small and large, mostly vague, probably all of them too ambitious—but Peter feels good today, high off a fight that ended well and a comradery he hasn’t had in years. He’s sad it was all over so quickly, but he’s home now, feeling alive. Feeling ready.
Peter knows, with a certainty he’s never felt before, that his life could be different.
