Summary
"If that first church had been a little spark in the fabric of Clorinde’s faith, then the Opera Epiclese is a bonfire roaring its prayers to the open sky. Lady Furina’s most ardent followers congregate in the lobby, clutching newspapers and playbills as their hymn-books, giving everything they have to the spectacle of the court and stage. And their Archon soaks up the spotlight, growing bigger and brighter with every shouted word of praise. Clorinde does not shout, but she feels it rattle through her, as world-breaking as a kiss, and she thinks of the audience as the waves of an ocean buying Lady Furina towards the sun.
And then Clorinde is twenty, and Clorinde is undefeated, and Clorinde is face-to-face with her Archon for the first time in her life."
In which Clorinde has a crisis of faith.

Summary
“Lady Furina doesn’t listen to anyone,” Jacqueline says. “And a good thing, too — what sort of Archon would she be if she went around taking mortals’ advice? But for everything else she is, she’s reasonable. If the Iudex really is…” she lowers her voice, disbelief painted across every inch of her strong features, “A thief, surely the God of Justice has a right to know.”
Neuvillette's official introduction is over, but a new problem has arisen. Sequel to Tails From The Court.

"Oh great Hauteclaire, Sword of Light! By your blade were so many conflicts settled in peace, and the ravages of war laid to rest in these lands.
One day there shall be one nobler than I, seven times more so, who will lift you again, and they shall do deeds seven times greater."

Summary
“Does that happen a great deal?”
“Oh, every now and then,” Furina lies, flicking her wrist as if the attention is nothing more than an annoying insect buzzing about her head — something to be crushed, and discarded, kept at bay with scented smoke. “I’m quite a big star now, you know!”
“The pride of Fontaine,” says Neuvillette softly, and Furina realises he must have seen her in the tabloids. How mortifying. “Which is what I was hoping to speak to you about, as it happens.”
Two years after Neuvillette and Furina break up, a letter arrives in Furina’s dressing-room at the Opera Epiclese.

Summary
"Neuvillette.
She says his name sometimes, whispered into the empty night, like a sailor throwing an anchor down at sea. Semantic satiation twists any word she repeats beyond some invisible threshold, numbs her tongue into incoherence; only Neuvillette is immune. He may have no interest in becoming her friend, but he’s something — an oasis in the desert, an island in the middle of the sea. A ‘something’ beyond comprehension or definition. He is gentle, and fair, and so much himself that sometimes Furina can hardly bear to look at him. Instead, she drapes her hope for the future like a cloak around his shoulders and pulls him with her into the sky, hand in hand, onto the glittering pedestal of fame and faith that will save their people from ruin."
Neuvillette and Furina, throughout the centuries.

It is Heart's Eve—the eve of the Day of Heart and Hearth, candles twinkling through snowy windowpanes and song drifting in the streets—and Essek arrives unexpectedly, with no emergency (no gaping wound; no narrow escape; no half-formed fears).
He hasn't done that before.

Summary
“Oh, sweetheart,” Laudna hears her murmur, extraordinarily tender, “what did they do to you?”
Don’t worry, Laudna wants to say, half-delirious. She reaches out and brushes her fingers against Pâté’s skull, the smooth bone, the crooked joints, making sure he’s whole. I’ve had worse.
--
Laudna gets hit with a Contagion spell, and Imogen doesn't leave. In an unlife like Laudna's, only one of these things is surprising. Set pre-campaign.
