“Shoko,” Utahime complains, setting down her papers again with a sigh. The tests had only just been submitted for grading, so there was no rush to complete them but Utahime already had finished placing her marks and flipped through them all twice for any mistakes she’d made.
“In a second,” she responds, the click-clacking of her keyboard filling the air between them.
“But you said that like twenty minutes ago.” Shoko hums noncommittally, clearly not listening as she continues typing. “And you don’t even care about your job.”

Utahime closed her eyes and breathed deeply before opening them again. "I'm sorry, I'm just as bad. I'm taking it out on you."
"Where would we be without our awful coping mechanisms?" Shoko extinguished the cigarette in the ashtray on her desk and set the bottle down. A second ashtray. Maybe she did have a problem if she needed to have several ashtrays in a single room. "Drugs, alcohol. I suppose we could take up gambling or get a shopping addiction."
"Sex," Utahime supplied.
Shoko paused, a flash of warmth shot through her. "Yeah, with who?"
"Who else?"
