    While it was true that Xie Lian adored them, there was one small problem—the more time he spent admiring them, the less he understood what Hua Cheng wanted him to do with them. The pearls were much too large to be worn as earrings, and far too priceless to be hung from his belt. Knowing his luck, he would damage them within a day, or maybe even lose them entirely. He just couldn’t see himself having any use for them.

    He turned his head, sending a sheepish look over his shoulder. “Aren’t they a bit too big to wear?”

    Mischief glinted in Hua Cheng’s narrowed eye. “In the traditional sense, yes.”

    Xie Lian receives a thorough demonstration on how to wear the string of red coral pearls that his husband so thoughtfully gifted to him.

    That strong fragrance made his heart start beating faster, and he could feel the blood rushing through his body. Xie Lian closed both his hands into fists, fingernails digging into the skin. All of his divine might was focused on not grabbing the man in front of him by the robes and smashing their lips together. Lips that must be so soft, and sweet as rain, and…

    “Please go.” He gritted his teeth. Xie Lian had barely even had friends during most of his 800 years of misfortune. Let alone someone as special as this. He couldn't fuck this up for the life of him.

    Hua Cheng opened his mouth as if to argue, but closed it again. After a few seconds he begrudgingly acquiesced. His soft steps retreated to the entrance of the cave, and Xie Lian was both relieved and incredibly painted by his absence.

    Rewrite of when Xie Lian is affected by the flower Yao, which made him feel burning lust. This version is set in his current present, and he is with Hua Cheng.
    (If you haven't read the book, you can still follow this. I'll bring you up to speed: Xie Lian was canonically affected by sex pollen, but in another moment in his life. He did some blood shedding to relieve it. That's all, on you go!)
