    Summary

Stacey leaned forward. “Truth or dare?”

    Mike hesitated.

    Then—

    “Truth.”

    “Of course,” Max muttered.

“Have you ever lied about your feelings to someone you care about?”

    The room quieted.

    Not completely—just enough.

    Mike’s eyes flicked up—
    and landed on Will.

    Or

Graduation night was supposed to be simple—goodbyes, bad music, and one last party. But when an unexpected invitation pulls the group into a night of reckless games and blurred edges, things start slipping out that were never meant to be said. On a quiet balcony, away from the noise, two best friends find themselves standing on the edge of something neither of them is ready to name… or lose.

    Summary

    What did he think, really?

What did he hope to find in the arms of a Mike Wheeler who's suddenly comfortable enough to go to gay bars in New York? That he was just going to have sex with his first love, who's gotten even prettier than he was six years ago and realise, oh, actually yeah I'm definitely over you?

Yes. Yes, that was what he'd hoped. That's exactly why he'd taken Mike up on the offer, goddammit.

But he can't face palm hard enough to leave a mark right now, because as he mentioned before, Mike is naked, lying on top of him, gently kissing up and down his neck, still warm and sticky inside him. He can't face palm, because he was wrong, and being wrong has never felt so right.

aka after the best hook up he's ever had, will tries to convince himself that mike is still a jerk. mike proves him wrong with aftercare and a surprising confession

    Summary

As Mike swivels his chair around he can feel his heart rate picking up, which is totally ridiculous. This whole situation is ridiculous, he thinks, as his eyes find the reason he hasn’t been able to concentrate on his stupid essay.

Will is sitting on his bed on the other side of the room. He has his knees drawn up to his chest with an open sketchbook balanced against them, absentmindedly tapping a pencil against his lips. And he is looking at Mike.

    No, not looking. Staring. Intensely.

    or

Mike and Will share a dorm in college, and over the course of three days Mike has some revelations about his feelings for Will and what he really means to him.

    Summary

All this time, he’d thought El was penance, for his failure to protect Will. That being with her was atonement, for wanting the wrong things, for feeling the wrong way. But it hadn’t helped— Will kept leaving. And El did, too. Mike keeps losing people, and nothing he does brings them back.

Each time Mike thinks of Will, he feels the weight of cosmic responsibility.

He's doesn't know what he feels for Will anymore. But he knows for certain that it isn't allowed.

non-linear series retrospective, from mike's perspective. (aka: the mike pov we all deserved)

    Summary

“Just saying, if you’re taking another hit, you should share it with me,” Mike says, and Will slowly tilts his head, drinking in every word. “It just makes sense. Like, mathematically.”

Will’s reddened eyes narrow, bewildered. “Mathematically?”

“If there’s two hits left, we’d each only get one,” Mike explains. “But if we shotgunned, we’d both get two.” God, this is the best idea he’s had in ages. He should’ve stolen Will’s weed, like, months ago. “That’s like, bang for your buck. This is simple math, Will Byers. Keep up.”

In which it’s well past midnight in New York, Will can’t sleep, and Mike feels like they barely know each other anymore.

So, they get a little high. Mike is very normal about all of it.
