Bracing himself with one hand atop that table, Qiuyuan's brush moved in a tasteful pattern upon the page. A gentle arc, a series of sharp lines– and together, they created an elegant character his blind eyes could not see.
"Ah-" A small noise emerged from his throat– and that brush suddenly steered violently off course, painting the table black.
He didn’t want to surrender. He didn’t want to accept it.
But he had already lost.
“Careful, swordsman.” Geshu Lin purred against his ear, and fucked into him hard. “If you keep making careless mistakes, we’re going to be here all night.”

Jiyan was no stranger to the things people did when times were tough, humans were desperate for any comfort, any sort of relief from the pain of the world. But he wasn't normally someone who indulged in those types of things, even when he was in the middle of a war.
He watched soldiers sneak off together, coming back smelling like smoke or each other. He saw the looks in his friends eyes as they surveyed who'd be willing to break a few rules, only for a fleeting moment of humanity. Jiyan was above it, until his eyes met with his General. General Geshu Lin.

Summary
Since his transfer from the military into the police force, Geshu Lin only handled major crimes. He was determined to expose all the scroundrels to justice's iron fist.
Recently, the traditional medicine shop on the police's radar gained a new employee. The young man was tall with broad shoulders and a narrow waist. With a slim face and eyes that seemed to be overflowing with golden honey, he'd braid that head of silky, pine-coloured long hair down his chest. Originally from the countryside, the young man spoke softly with a refined and gentle demeanor. Occassionally, when he encountered something intriguing, he would tilt his head slightly and his expression mirrored that of a clumsy little dog, who believed it could understand anything so long as it stared long enough.
This wasn't someone who would be associated with smuggling or the mafia.
Geshu Lin imagined the man's lips would taste cloyingly sweet with a hint of natural bitterness from the herbs. Maybe? He hadn't tried it yet. After all, in the fleeting instant where they brushed past each other, those moonlit fingertips had an unsettling coldness.
And Geshu Lin's intution was never wrong.

Summary
He sees the golden blood before he sees the body.
In a scene too reminiscent of that day, he follows the trail of blood. From the muddy banks of the darkened sea through fields of wheat, his feet lead him to tattered remains of what looks like a young child.
Despite the months of his persistent, single-minded pursuit of that monster that tore his home apart, he stops at the sight of the body.
An emaciated frame, dirt-streaked hair, and bony limbs bent in unnatural ways. It’s clear that the child had crawled a long way before succumbing to their wounds.
It is a relief, almost, that the child does not bear a resemblance to her, save for the gold streaming from their injuries.
A young Phainon, post the fall of his homeland, finds an even younger Mydei washed ashore.

In one hand, he still clutched a whisk. On the floor sat a mixing bowl filled with ith a suspicious concoction that looked vaguely like batter. His gaze shifted to the oven, where the charred remains of the ghost's latest culinary disaster smoldered in silence. It was clear that this wasn’t the first time he had danced with disaster in the kitchen.
Noticing how long Mydei had been forced to look up, Phainon was worried he'd strain his neck, so he immediately dropped down onto the floor. Like a child caught red-handed in the middle of a crime scene.
"…Me try cook."
Phainon confessed, utterly dejected.
Another fun fact? This ghost couldn't speak properly.
Phainon could only manage broken, fragmented words, never a complete sentence. However, it was enough for Mydei to piece together what he meant.

Canon AU Woke Up Married + Time Travel Trope:
Marry Geshu Lin? Did future-him lose his mind? Rolling into bed with him once or twice might be excusable, but Geshu Lin is the farthest thing from marriage material. Sure, as a General, he has some selling points, but Jiyan can’t name a single desirable quality of a life partner that Geshu Lin possesses.
Was he tricked by this person somehow?
“Fix your expression,” Geshu Lin says, correctly interpreting the strangeness in the gaze directed at him.
“I don’t know what you mean, General,” Jiyan replies seriously.

Summary
Phainon scratches his head, debating the possibility of this creature being some kind of spy against the Flame-Chase. A human would be thrown out and arrested immediately, but something soft and cute and fuzzy like this could very well be an attempt to slip under their radar.
Although… the chimera maybe-a-spy is doing a terrible job at looking soft or cute. It’s the most sour-faced chimera he’s ever seen. Even the Garden of Life’s chimera literally named “Bad-Tempered” for attitude issues has never held such a fierce look on its face. This chimera probably-a-spy has a serious frown and flat expression. Its small body is wired with tension. Long, sharp claws scratch the marble ground.
“Aglaea?” Phainon asks. “What’s a chimera doing in the Hero’s Bath? Did the little fella get lost?”
The chimera’s eyes suddenly snap open, fierce gaze locking onto Phainon, and it growls.
In which Mydei turns into a chimera, Phainon panics, the other Chrysos Heirs aren’t as bothered as he thinks they should be, and shenanigans ensue.
