She's shaking so badly, her knees feel like they're going to drill through the floor.
“Is that really you?” Emily asks, in that same, scared little voice she used when they first met. Grace never wants to hear it ever again. “Grace?”
“Hi Emily.” Emily gasps. Grace smiles through her tears. “Will you come here, baby?”

It starts out innocently enough, a suggestion by Dempsey to spark cooperation between agencies—a pen pal system. Grace Ashcroft is assigned to Leon S. Kennedy, DSO Agent, as the DSO has reluctantly agreed to inter-communication in order to see their needs done.
And yet, Grace finds herself taking comfort in writing to Leon, and Leon finds moments of joy in reading Grace's letters—until they've stopped after she mentioned she was going into the field for the first time, and just missing meeting each other in person at the FBI headquarters.
Until Leon learns of Raccoon City Syndrome, and Wrenwood Hotel. And finds his young pen pal is the one being taken by Victor Gideon.

Summary
Maeve always has very expressive blue eyes, but right now they're dull and dark. Like the brewing ocean just before a storm.
Grace gulps, squirming when said eyes track the movement of her throat before flinching away. It's insufferable, the way neither of them know how to act around each other anymore.
“Do you… still have my number?”
“Yes.” Grace nods. She purses her lips into a thin line so as to not let slip any confession about never having deleted it in the first place.
“Okay.” Maeve shuffles back, and apparently that's all the time she has for Grace. “See you.”
As soon as Maeve disappears behind the corner, Grace finds a wall so she can slam her head into.
This is going to be a mess.
After the events of RE9, Leon reaches out to Grace for a favor: Deliver Elpis to one Jill Valentine and Claire Redfield.
Indebted to her friend, Grace files a field assignment request to Director Dempsy. Her request is approved, but only on one condition: Grace must have a partner.
It just so happens that the partner Director Dempsy has in mind is her workplace situationship. Surely this can only end well.

What did it mean, that Wednesday's heart rate was evidently elevated when Enid was there?
Was Wednesday… scared of her?
The sinking feeling only grows worse when she considers how it got worse when Enid drew near. Now that Enid could fully wolf out… did Wednesday view her as a potential danger? Unable to reign in her wolf? Enid racks her brain, trying to remember if she had her claws out the past few times she's visited.
Should she reel herself in?
When Enid shares these fears with Yoko, she's only met with a loud cackle.

Enid keeps visiting Wednesday in the hospital. The reason why Wednesday's heart rate monitor goes crazy around her eludes her. Until it doesn't.

“I don’t care if he threatened my life, he’s not going to harm my ma—best friend,” Enid was quick to catch herself before her massive slip up. She glanced at Wednesday nervously.
Wednesday raised an eyebrow in amusement and laughed. Enid had never heard her laugh until now.
“What’s so funny?!” Enid furrowed her eyebrows at the girl next to her. Only Wednesday would laugh about almost dying.
“I know, Enid,” Wednesday seized her laughter and rubbed soothing circles with her thumb on Enid’s cheek. Enid shivered at the touch.
“You know… what?”
“I know that I’m your mate.”
OR
Enid has yet to tell Wednesday that she’s her mate. During her second full moon, she saves Wednesday from bleeding out, and these events encourage her to confess… or try to, at least. Wednesday might know more than she lets on.
