Megan wasn’t one to usually victimize herself, but truly, having dyslexia had delayed her career plans.
Working in the CIA’s Directorate of Operations’ cyberanalytics team had been humbling enough. In just the last year, she’d mispelled several words on her quarterly presentation, conditioned her body to six hours of sleep, developed an ever-present sense of mild anxiety, and hacked through more security chips and intelligence networks abroad than she could count on both hands.
And based on Megan’s recent performance… well, she didn’t blame Missy for not wanting to put a dyslexic spy in the middle of Berlin and accidentally misspelling a license plate lead, or causing an international crisis because an asset kept saying ‘Royal Harem.’

Summary
Yoonchae had been feeling like shit for two weeks now.
At the end of the first week of college, she had briefly thought about dropping this Aztec art GenEd class; she had seriously considered changing classes altogether, mostly because she kept coughing during lecture, and the lecture was a hundred-person class in which, seemingly, she was the only person who was sick and coughing her lungs out. She had also briefly considered changing seats, but people had just begun sitting in the same locations, and it didn’t feel right to take someone else’s seat at this point.
Yoonchae decided it was better to stay where she was.
She continued coughing.

Summary
Sophia was very good at compartmentalizing her spaces.
Of note, there were few things she did in her bedroom — cooking and eating were done in the kitchenette of her and Yoonchae’s shared apartment, studying was done at the library, pilates at the gym, game nights at Megan’s dorm, and so on. She could count the number of things she did in that room on one hand: sleep, shower, change clothes, put on or take off makeup. Maybe an occasional phone call or FaceTime if Yoonchae was deep in the trenches of her own room, and Sophia didn’t want to risk a call in the apartment’s living area to interrupt the other girl.
Regardless, the point was this: Sophia did very few things in her bed other than sleep. She did not study there, she did not eat there, and she most definitely did not see it as a playground space for a threesome.
And yet here she was.

Manon had consumed way too much alcohol.
Manon didn’t know when or how she got here. They must’ve skipped over Thanksgiving and gone straight to December, and Christmas must’ve come early or something, because she was lying back against her own bed, on top of her duvet, with legs dangling over the side of this twin XL mattress, and a beautiful, gorgeous, vixen of a woman was straddling her, nibbling at her neck.
Cross that — Sophia Laforteza was straddling her, and exploring Manon with all teeth and tongue, as if she were a starving woman who’d stumbled upon forbidden fruit.

Summary
It all started with an understaffed college opera.
It was more a shitshow than an opera at this point.
Manon should’ve known better. She was a junior and very much busy and had way too much to do and, most importantly, did not know how to ever say no, and now, here she was, ass-deep into the fall with a new source of niche, targeted stress.
But Lara had come to her, begging her to fill the role of lighting designer with big puppy eyes and a stupid promise to bring Manon as her +1 to the next 3 weddings she would attend.
God, Manon knew she should’ve said no.

Summary
After an impulsive one-night stand, Sophia and Daniela agree it meant nothing. But Sophia can’t forget the warmth of Daniela’s hands or the vanilla-citrus scent she left on her skin. Daniela, pretending she’s fine, hides the way Sophia’s laugh has been replaying in her mind for days. What was supposed to be a clean, easy goodbye turns into a lingering tension neither of them asked for and definitely weren’t prepared to feel.

Yoonchae reads the post over and over again. Her eyes start to sting after a minute or two, so she lowers her phone’s brightness, and then reads it four more times.
