“Are you unwell?” Armand asks. Then, as an afterthought. “Are you hurt?”
He scans the boy's body and finds no evidence of that, either. No obvious bruising or swelling, no weeping sores. Certainly no bleeding wounds, which Armand would have smelled the second he entered the apartment.
From the floor, Daniel huffs a half-laugh, like Armand has suggested something funny.
“No, man, I'm not sick,” he confirms. “I'm just hot.”

Summary
It's a dream he's had before, countless times over the past eight decades. Or, at least, it's something like one. There's something different about this, something more grounded and corporeal. In his dreams, Louis never feels quite so solid as this; his embrace never has quite this warmth; his skin never has this heady perfume of spicy tobacco and sweet vanilla. It all feels so real.
Because, Lestat realises with a flutter of his aching broken heart, this isn't a dream.
Not this time.
