Summary
The grief seemed to have mellowed Daniel out dramatically. Vlad had been expecting a quite violent reaction when he’d exercised his right as godfather to take the teenager in as his own, but there had been barely any response to the news.
It’s a good thing, Vlad thought to himself, that he is so reserved right now. The less spirited he is, the less he fights. He’d been repeating it to himself several times every day, but it didn’t stop him from feeling slightly more shattered with each blank stare and placid agreement Daniel gave him.

Summary
“With current power levels and the backup generators online, we should have enough juice to last the next 8 hours,” Tucker reads off his PDA, where he was apparently doing calculations.
“We might be here for longer than 8 hours, though,” Sam grumbles. “Are we just meant to freeze to death if the power goes off?”
Phantom rolls his eyes as he tastes her frankly unjustified panic. He knows that the alternate version of his past self and Vlad are probably hard at work trying to get Sam, Tucker and Jazz out, considering none of them especially trust him to not try murdering someone the minute their backs are turned. He doesn’t bother explaining to any of them that he has no intention of trying that again, not with Clockwork breathing down his neck. He’s aware none of them will take his words at face value.

Summary
Jazz knows how much she’s changed since the Accident, and how much that’s hurt Danny especially. She didn’t intentionally pull away from her baby brother, but she doesn’t know how she could ever explain her situation to him. Unlike her parents, Danny’s opinions on the new ghost epidemic are unknown to her, but she remembers clearly that throughout their childhood, he’d always been more interested in their work than she had. Danny’s opinions towards ghosts seem to range from abject terror to protective rage, and she doesn’t know how she could deal with seeing the same look in his eyes that her parents get whenever they talk about hunting her ghost form.
Well, she thinks with a well-worn pang of regret, it’s not that different of a look from the one he wears whenever he looks at her these days; the admiration he used to wear has been slowly drained from his expression, leaving only a mix of pity and annoyance as Jazz struggles to be even a modicum of the person she once was.

Sam's abrupt cackle in the background is admittedly one Danny should have seen coming. Chancing a glance at Tucker reveals that he's very close to breaking himself.
"Right," Danny says dazedly, looking back at Paulina. "Um, what did Phantom say... exactly?"

Danny frowns slightly, feeling a weird sense of deja vu.

(Un-)Fortunately, Sonic has the time show him around the place, which turns out to be a bigger help than Shadow would've ever thought. Now if only that didn't also make it harder for the hybrid to keep up his prickly walls that he's set up ever since that one fateful encounter with Sonic on the lily field...
Perhaps Sonic has been right all along and he should be more honest with himself.
As Shadow struggles, he quickly discovers that Sonic is hiding some secrets of his own.

Hallucination, right? Has to be. But then Stoick pressed his axe close enough to graze the bottom of Hiccups chin and nope, nope, not a hallucination. “I— I don’t understand.”
“Did the dragon get you? Have you seen it?”
“Dragon,” Hiccup repeated numbly. Dragon. He knew that word. Definitely knew it. It sure sounded familiar. “Dr—Dragon! The dragon. Right, um, yes, right, uh— Yellow scales, four wings… that dragon?”
“Are there other dragons about?” It wasn’t a rhetorical or teasing question, but a man asking how many enemies were around him.
“No, uh. No. I just… I saw it crash into the ground and— wait, you crashed with it?” Hiccup suddenly realized. “What were you doing with that dragon?!”
Stoick leaned back from Hiccup just long enough to raise his axe. “What do you think I was trying to do, boy?”
