From the other side of the living room, arms crossed over his chest, Adrian—another Adrian glowers at Chris. “Fuck you.”

Given the events of the past few weeks, it shouldn’t have been something that caused Chris so much confusion, but he was adamant that there was no one else in the world—no—the multitude of infinite universes that was like Adrian. He was one of a kind in a way that undiscovered algae in the depths of the Siberian permafrost wastelands were special. Strange, confusing and packing one hell of a punch if you were to try and ingest it. Adrian probably had xenomorph acid blood. He most likely slept upside down in his bedroom at night.
He was strange. He was unparalleled.

Adrian wishes he was the one who killed Chris’s dad.
Well, obviously. Adrian always wishes he was the one who got to kill every bad guy. Like, when he found out Osama bin Laden was dead, he was kind of disappointed.
But this is a different thing. Adrian got to kill plenty of other Nazis that day—more than Peacemaker, actually, he’d like to point out—so it’s not really about missing out. It’s more like, he wishes he just got it together and murdered Chris’s dad in that prison. Or maybe a long, long time ago. Then maybe Chris wouldn’t be acting like this.

Adrian is in the center of the dimly lit room, sitting in a high-backed chair. He’s positioned so that his face is pointed towards Chris, but his eyes are closed, and his hairline is dripping blood onto his cheeks.
Chris sprints to him. Thank fuck—Chris can just make out the slight rise and fall of Adrian’s chest. There’s a piece of duct tape holding Adrian’s neck in place, preventing his head from lolling to the side in his unconsciousness. Jesus, his whole body is covered in duct tape, almost every inch of skin wrapped tightly to the chair—a lot of bare skin, too, because the sleeves of his Vigilante costume are torn and his gloves are gone. Even his fingers are bound.
Chris pushes Adrian’s hair aside gently to find the source of the bleeding, and it’s not good. One of them must have managed to smash his head into the wall—that might be why he’s unconscious now.
“He’s alive,” Chris says into his comms. “Unconscious. Fuckin’ covered in duct tape.”

Chris and Adrian are both groomsmen at Gut's wedding. The wedding party should be fun—after all, they've been having a kick-ass time hooking up in a casual, "no-strings attached" way for a few weeks, and now they have a weekend away to drink cheap wine and attend a cheesy bachelor party.
Except things have been weird between Chris and Adrian lately, and a weekend all about love and lifelong commitment has them both wondering if their ultra-casual situationship is really working as well as they say it is.
