“Hanta, I don’t know if this was a good idea,” Todoroki said, staying where he was as Sero began to walk forward. It wasn’t that he didn’t know or didn’t like Sero’s friends, they had gone to school together and being pro-heroes meant they often ran into each other while on the job, it was more like Todoroki still wasn’t sure whether or not his friends liked him. Well. One friend in particular.
Sero turned back to him, the same dopey smile he always had when he looked at Todoroki on full display. Todoroki couldn’t help smiling back, he never really had been able to. Not since their second year at least.
"You think too much. We’re gonna eat gross pizza and whatever dessert Kaminari decided to bring and I’m gonna destroy you at Mario Kart,” Sero rambled as he walked them to the apartment door.

Sero didn't imagine he'd ever become a sailor like his late father, but here he is three years later. During one horrifying storm, as he saves his Captain's daughter, he's torn away from his ship and saved by a mer. The man(?) is apparently infatuated with him—and has no concept of personal space. As Sero reconciles the old tales about mer with the overly affectionate Shouto, he realizes he really doesn't know as much about this new friend as he should.
Stories are well and good, but not all mer drown men, after all. Some, apparently, would rather serenade them.

“Uh.” Sero felt lightheaded. “It’s kind of hard to, like, explain.”
“Oh.” Todoroki replied. Sero sucked in a slow breath, keeping his eyes glued to the screen, praying he would leave it at that. “Well, you could show me, then?”
In which Todoroki thinks dirty talk is fake news, Sero is a reluctant teacher, and Todoroki turns out to be a natural.
