Grian frowns. He considers their joined hands, before smiling and letting them go. “Do not swear. Although I joy in thee, I have no joy of this contract tonight. It—“
Scar starts to speak, taking a step forward, but Grian takes a step back, planting his hands on Scar’s shoulders. “It is too rash!” he insists. ”Too unadvised, too sudden. Too like the lightning, which doth cease to be ere one can say, ‘it lightens’.”
Scar says nothing — he has no written line here. But he takes Grian’s hand in his. He holds it, gently, as if it’s something fragile. Grian’s completely blindsided as he feels a pang in his chest. Oh, Scar.
He places his other hand over Scar’s, squeezing it reassuringly. His voice is soft as he finishes his line. “Sweet, good night…”
Aah. This is the part of the scene where Scar and Pearl would’ve. You know.
He sees Scar give an imperceptible nod, eyes locked with his.
Grian is cast as Juliet and Scar is cast as Romeo as they rehearse the balcony scene oh no I wonder what could possibly happen

GOSH this one has to be one of my all time favorites!! It’s so perfect and AMAZINGLY written, had me giggling and squealing and screaming into my pillow. They’re playing as Romeo and Juliet aaaaaaahhahahaa
also it somehow is SOO hilarious like I was laughing so hard when I was reading it this author’s got a good sense of humor -

Scar let out a heavy sigh, starting to push away from his desk before pausing for a moment, shaking his head, then leaning forward again, his quill continuing to glide along the parchment. He wasn’t ready yet, surely whoever had come to collect him could wait a few minutes longer. Or a few hours. Or a few years, actually.
It wasn’t as if he didn’t want to go on this trip. He knew just how important it was, and how privileged he was that he got to go on it, but-
Well, it wasn’t quite what he’d been hoping for. For a powerful mage such as himself (or, well - future powerful mage, that is) this was perhaps the most important journey he’d make in his lifetime. His pilgrimage to the Crystal Fountain, the source of magic itself, the very journey he’d spent his entire life working towards. He should be excited. He was excited.
At least, he had been, until he found out that he wasn’t to make the journey alone.
Or, in which the vex prince sets out on a magical journey of a lifetime, and an unassuming avian knight is dragged along for the ride.

Summary
Scar hadn’t meant to fall in love with Grian.
He’d tried his damn hardest not to. He’d told himself time and time again to stop, to calm down, to take things slow. To wait for those stupid feelings to pass and move on with his life.
But everyday he’d see Grian, and he’d do something that made the other man smile or laugh, and he’d see his eyes light up at Scar’s presence, and Scar would fall just that little bit more. He kept falling, and falling, until he was tumbling down, head over heels, and there was no coming back. All he wanted was Grian - he wanted to feel those hands through his hair, hear that sweet voice whisper beautiful things in his ear, taste those soft, ever so inviting lips on his mouth. He wanted to hang onto Grian and never, ever let go.
But he couldn’t. He couldn’t let himself fall in love with Grian. He couldn’t have him.
He knew that he could never want Grian in the way that Grian would want him, and he knew that wouldn’t be fair.
