Summary
Avid was not happy. Quite the opposite, but in the way that pure untampered anxiety clutched at the fibers of his very being. He was terrified. And as he should be, standing on the other side of the bridge that led to the Goldsmith manor. This was quite possibly the worst thing to happen to him, right alongside the scratch that was burning his neck at that very moment. Fear had its claws wrapped around Avid and he had no way out.
The “Agreement” was a set of terms alongside the manor of vampires and the townsfolk of Oakhurst. The Goldsmith Coven protected the valley and didn’t kill but in exchange humans got sent to the manor to work. Everyone knew that entailed being drank from even though it was not stated.
Curse Avid’s never ending bad luck as he had drawn the short straw. Living in Oakhurst as a sick man was bad enough, being sent to what was essentially the slaughter…

Nom’s sword flashed in the light, raised and too close— far too close— to Kitty’s throat. Fel stumbled back, boots scraping against stone, but fel did not run. Even with cold metal pointed at feli and no protection against it, fel stood felis ground. Stubborn. Foolish. Brave.
Owain did not think. He moved. One breath he was yards away; the next he stood between them, his Zweihander drawn in a sweeping arc that felt less like motion and more like instinct. The blade settled into his grip as though it had always belonged there. As though this was what it had been forged for.
Nom’s eyes burned, not with irritation, but fury. Kitty shifted behind Owain; he could feel meows presence there, small and trembling despite meows efforts to hide it. It took much to frighten meow. The fact that meow was afraid told him everything.
“Don’t touch her.” The words left him low and rough, more growl than speech. They vibrated in his chest like a warning drumbeat.
Nom did not lower his weapon. Neither did Owain.

Owain decides to protect Kitty and gets exiled in the process. Unsurprisingly, shaking the cat isn't that simple. (Not that he would ever want it to be).

Avid knows that Scott is a vampire, of course he knows. Scott wasn’t even trying to hide it. But everyone in town was getting tired of Avid repeatedly accusing Scott of being a vampire. So instead, he chose to keep an eye on the blue-haired man, which led to him trying to walk backward toward his house.
But what Avid didn’t know was how he had somehow ended up lying naked in a big fancy bed, with an even more obvious vampire, and equally naked, Scott. And why was everyone and everything so different from how he remembered them.

I started this for funsies and then I got emotionally invested- wdym an Avid/Scott fic where Avid comes back from the dead that was supposed to be fluff turned into THIS MASTERPIECE
don’t get me wrong I’m sure it was never supposed to be completely fluff it’s just I started it when I was still in denial over Avid’s death (I say like I’m not anymore- I definitely am) and so I kind of manipulated myself into thinking it was mostly fluff. And then was hit with chapter 18- wtf I was just being happy again
