“That’s right. And I’ve got a proposition for you all. It’s a big ask, I know, but I’ve been thinking about it since they locked me away. I want to start a magazine of our own. I’m calling it Defiant.”
“A new magazine?” Kay breathed.
“The kind of magazine that’s not afraid to publish stories about Negro captains and strong heroines,” said Benny. “One not beholden to the likes of Pabst and the owners. We’d be the owners.”

Garak woke, scanned the room. He selected an outfit for himself and, despite the fact he knew few of Terok Nor’s new inhabitants would appreciate it, dressed himself up as nicely as he was able. As he raked a t’ssavit through his black, feathery hair—
Garak paused and glanced discreetly around the room. It appeared as empty as it had last time he checked. Of course. It was probably nothing. Garak forced himself to resume his task.
As he raked a t—
Garak froze. There it was again. He was definitely hearing a voice.

Summary
At Farpoint, Q had been sure, so sure, that this Jean-Luc Picard would be nothing. Humans, one of the worst of the galaxy’s species, hateful, cruel, nothing compared to the Continuum. Hubris, the imbecilic hubris of Icarus flying into the Sun, mocking it for its brightness.
In Picard’s bed, clutching his sleeping form, listening to his captain’s gentle snoring, Q wondered if the Sun seemed beautiful to Icarus. If the warmth was comforting. If the wax dripping down his arms felt like a lover’s caress. If he knew the story he was acting out and embraced it all the same.
Jean-Luc. Captain of the Enterprise. The undoing of everything. Q could feel the feathers falling from him into the ocean when he looked at him, the wax, heard the cries of Daedalus begging for him to come down, desperate, pleading. He heard the roar of the waves too, in the distance, but in the heat of the Sun, what did it matter? How could he turn away?

Summary
First, the news. All over town people are discovering clothes. Old clothes, long since written up as lost, have been found tucked into laundry chutes and dark corners wrapped up in spider webs. This would not be news except for the fact that everyone is simultaneously finding these lost garments at the same time...It seems ironic, though, that today’s main story is about clothes, as the mysterious wardrobe that has followed me all my life has mysteriously vanished. I know you are unaccustomed to me speaking about my personal life on the air, but I feel like I can’t focus on anything else.

Listeners, it appears that a strange new force has entered Night Vale. And I know what you’re going to say, oh goodie, more unknowable fear gods taking up residence in our fair berg, but I would remind you that speaking out against our less than benevolent overlords is highly inadvisable.

What if Jonah didn't ruin everything? Didn't send the end of everything statement? What do Jon and Martin do now? Get a job, I guess. A teaching job, for Jon, though it was hardly his first pick. But sometimes your boyfriend looks *really* excited when he suggests it, and I mean, you know literally everything. It can't be that bad, right? Right?

“I’ve got work.” Jon tapped the box.
Martin raised an eyebrow at it, then at Jon. “That’ll be there in the morning.”
“Not if I do it now.”
“Jon…”
“Alright, fine.” Jon ran a hand through his hair and adjusted his glasses. “My flat is getting fumigated. I can’t go home even if I wanted to.”
“So you were just going to what, sleep here then?” laughed Martin incredulously.
“Yes,” snapped Jon, rather defensively. “It’s not like I’ve got anywhere else to go.” At this, Martin flushed slightly and began to wring his hands.
“You could always stay with me,” he said. -

Martin tapped Jon on the nose. “And you haven’t answered the question.”
“Fine,” laughed Jon. "I do have a crush.”
“Should I be jealous?” Martin asked, wiggling his eyebrows.
Jon nodded solemnly. “Oh definitely. He’s very handsome. Stupid middle name, but his tea is to die for.”
Martin was blushing fiercely. “Just pick a card, Jon.” -

Summary
Martin was a romantic; anyone could tell. It was in his words and daydreams and his poetry - because Christ, he even had poetry. It was everywhere in him, up and down, from the top of his head to the tip of his toes, Martin was a romantic. He'd been one all his life, so he’d expected something like this to happen...Jon was a romantic too, sort of. Love was different for Jon, it's not like in the songs and the poems and the TV shows that he didn't watch. And Jon would describe himself as many things and none of them would be romantic. But that didn't change the facts.
