His stomach swirls like a maelstrom, and he blames it on the caf he had in order to stay awake through one of his lessons. Pathetic. You can’t even sleep right. He promises to skip the caf the next day, and his consciousness floats on the surface even as he wishes to be pulled under."

    Rey knew the terms of her marriage all too well. She would give Ben Solo the right to the throne her grandfather sat on before his family overthrew him and she would be protected from his influence. She was but a girl of fifteen, and so Ben Solo, ten years her senior agreed to a pact with her to consummate their marriage ten years after, and only then to secure the line of succession for the throne. After that they can live their separate lives.

    Except she never expected to fall in love with her beautiful, funny and charming husband. A husband who has become her closest friend, her most trusted confidante, and the only family she's ever known. A husband who's first love returns to the Core Worlds after a mission to the Outer Rims. A husband who plans to reunite with said first love after he fulfills his end of the bargain.

    (Or when Empress Kira Ren can't hide the fact that she's thirst for her husband, Emperor Kylo Ren)

    There’s a nagging voice in the back of her head telling her to take Ben’s hand, outstretched towards her, the destruction of Snoke’s throne room glowing around them. 
    “Please,”  He whispers, dark eyes pleading, his trembling outstretched fingertips a sort of peace offering - a promise.
    “Take off your glove,” Rey commands, and there’s a flash of confusion in Ben’s eyes before he pulls his hand back and rips off the glove, just like he’d done that night through their Force bond. And Rey is looking at Ben Solo again. 
    She places her fingertips in his palm. 
    ------
    Rey takes Ben's hand when he offers it to her onboard the Finalizer. But a series of miscommunications and misunderstandings, hurt and betrayal, their plans for each other go awry. Can Rey bring Ben back to the light? Were their visions of each other the same, or are they taking two separate paths that neither can follow?
