Summary
A couple of years after defeating the First (and dragging Spike back from LA), Buffy's settled into a good life. She has her friends and her sister and the Slayer school all up and running in Scotland. To top it all off, Buffy and Spike have settled into a good working friendship. It's great. Everything is totally great. Well, Buffy could do without this cold. It's not easy being a girl from SoCal in the UK.
Except, this winter, this winter might be here to stay unless Buffy (and Spike, of course) can put the seasons back to rights.

Astarion smiled then. Genuinely smiled. Gale had never thought his features drawn until he saw them entirely relaxed. He was struck in particular by how young he looked.
Though Gale was immune to Astarion’s feigned charm, he was coming to realize he wasn’t nearly as safe from the authenticity the vampire hid behind it.

What starts as a tentative friendship between Gale and Astarion, bonding over a shared love of reading, turns into the alarming realization that they may just have caught feelings for each other.

Gale blinks and finds himself back at square one with an overwhelming amount of knowledge, a hungry Netherese blight in his chest, and friends who no longer remember him.
Or... Gale is like basically a fortune-teller.I suppose this is a slow burn. I sort of modeled it off of the game's pacing, so that's why.

Summary
The first thing he notices is that they’ve switched during the night. Gale is pressed against his back, shirtless and heavy with sleep, with an arm slung over Astarion’s side. He always slept so hot—like a human furnace.
The second thing he notices is the pressure—it's grounding. Comforting, as it’s grown to always be, every time. The temptation to slip his eyes shut and stay under the weighted warmth that is Gale is strong, and he debates moving at all, lest he wake the other.
The third thing he notices is that Gale is hard against him, pressed against the swell of where his thigh meets his ass.
He’s not uncomfortable; it's Gale. And where he’d told himself that over and over again at the start, it actually does bring him nothing but peace now. Maybe because it isn’t so forced anymore, and is now the actual passing thought he’d wanted it to be then.
Astarion closes his eyes, and thinks.
It’s not the first time he’s woken to this scenario—far from it, at this point. Having Gale wrapped around him half-naked just makes it so tempting.

Most people are surprised to find out that Gale and Astarion are roommates. Maybe it’s because Astarion doesn’t seem like the type to hang around stuffy academics all day, or because Gale seems like someone who would be overwhelmed by Astarion’s…everything. And to be fair to most of Gale’s acquaintances, Gale himself would have agreed with that assessment a mere three months ago.
Of course, that had been before both of them had essentially experienced the equivalent of nuclear bombs going off in their lives.

Summary
He thinks of it – of her - much more rarely now since the incident; he’s proud that it’s only a momentary shock that wracks him, and not the full-blown panic attacks of the few months prior. His therapist would be so proud; both of that, and the fact Gale's taking the initiative to seek out the tattoo artist - stepping out of his comfort zone in a way that means he’s ready to move on.
He just needs to work up the nerve to actually contact the artist, explain what he wants.
Finally free of his abusive relationship, Gale contacts local tattoo artist @IchorousInk to help him take the last step he's planned towards his recovery.
