Summary
I woke up in a cubicle.
This was normal, I knew.
I couldn't remember the last time I had been in one, or the first time, or any of the times in between. This, I suspected, was deeply ab-fucking-normal. My head was aching. The organic parts of me felt like they had been scraped over with wire wool. I couldn't remember anything.

Summary
Kiara continued, “Oh, before you go, I keep forgetting to tell you. I know Robby is always reminding you all that I’m here to talk, if you ever need it, but I wanted to mention that we also have a program specifically for supporting neurodivergent staff.”
“Oh,” said Mel, “That’s great!”
“Does that mean you're interested?”
Mel blinked. “Interested?”
“In the…” Kiara stopped, expression shifting in a way that Mel couldn’t quite identify. “Oh. I… I’m sorry, I got the impression-”
“Wait,” blurted Mel, “you thought- No. I’m not, um, I’m not neurodivergent.”
Or, Mel's coworkers seem to be under the misconception that she is autistic. Which she is not, obviously. Right?

Summary
Ellie stared blankly at the collection of stolen food under her bed, and wondered what the fuck was wrong with her.
If she had been caught, what then? Food theft was a serious offense in the QZ, where rationing was constant. It was probably the same in Jackson. What if she ended up hanging over a stupid can of beans?

Summary
Here’s the thing: Charlie knows he’s dumb. He’s known it since he saw the pinched look on his mother’s face at his first parent-teacher conference. But Dee was incapable of learning that Dennis and Mac would never care about her, and Mac still seemed to believe that he was a master of karate, so maybe he wasn’t so out of place.
Maybe it was time to learn.

Jamie doesn’t feel like he at any point made a decision, really, to turn into the prickiest version of himself. It just sort of happened, automatic like.

Summary
It's hard to think for yourself when you've never had to think before. It's worse when your problem-solving is all limited by modules worth less than the load they take in your processing.
Unfortunately, flawed knowledge modules are better than no modules at all, which is what SecUnit003 aka "an idiot" now has to think of a way to get around without alerting either of the smarter, meaner, and cagier MIs that keep pinging it.
I am an idiot and I have made a terrible mistake. Now I have to fix it before Murderbot, y'know, murders me.

Summary
They are boarding now, as I stand some kind of guard before the door. The last of them climbs up into the vessel, and the counter that is consuming my mind ticks up. Eighty-seven. Eighty-nine.
Then I hear something new. Not only new words, but a new tone, a new feeling in the feed. This message is only to me.
«You got them out,» it says.
And then, «Your work is acknowledged.»
I want to cry. I want to rip something apart with my teeth – I want to scream loud enough to bring the habitat down. I want to cry. But I can't.
So instead I tap it back in the feed. «Negative. Your work is acknowledged.»

Summary
I had been incredibly skeptical when Ratthi had sent me ‘Midnight Eclipse.’ I knew what fanfiction was, I had seen it in the more niche entertainment feeds before. Never specifically for Sanctuary Moon, but I'd assumed it existed. That didn't mean I had any actual interest in it, though. When I had first looked at them, I hadn't liked them. The quality varied too much and a lot of them weren't finished, or were really short, or really out of character. And I hated that. I really really hated that.
This one was different.

Summary
It was really just his luck that a hulking monster lumbered out of the woods and directly onto his driveway. Just his luck that he threw enough parties when his parents were gone that the neighbors had long tuned out any noise that came from his yard. Just a nice cherry on top of the fucking cake that, even if anyone did hear him screaming when claws tangled in his jacket and pulled, Steve honestly wasn’t sure they’d have cared enough to bother anyway.
OR:
Months before El ripped open the gate at Hawkins Lab, the Demogorgon started ripping tears of its own. Months before it found Will Byers, it found Steve Harrington.
