And even though everyone expects him to be appointed the Princess’s knight, one thing is for sure—the King will never select anyone but an alpha. And he certainly won’t trust his only child with someone who hasn’t even presented yet. Maybe it would be different if Link had the sword that seals the darkness, but he doesn’t.

They are just as real from close up, and Shen Yuan pokes one with a tentative finger, careful of his claw. It’s still warm from the heat of his body before he laid it, and so, so incriminating.
What is Luo Binghe going to think when he sees this? Shen Yuan thinks hysterically.
Or: Shen Yuan rescued Luo Binghe as a child, but he’s long since grown and it’s time for him to leave the nest. So why are Shen Yuan’s traitorous instincts betraying him and having him lay a clutch of eggs now?

Summary
The Sun and Moon Dew Flower is ready - but the timing is off. Binghe is still in the abyss, and will be for another two years. Shen Qingqiu had wanted to see him one last time before he died, even if Binghe was no longer his little white lotus disciple anymore.
But the body will rot long before Binghe gets out. So Shen Qingqiu must shut away that sentiment and move forward with the plan. He has the suicide note written, and letters to everyone - including a heartfelt apology to Binghe. Shen Qingqiu has the poison that will painlessly stop his heart.
But a death on Qing Jing peak would be suspicious - perhaps it would look faked to Luo Binghe, once he got out of the abyss. It would be better to have Shen Qingqiu’s death occur somewhere more public, so that his body would be witnessed by strangers wherever he died and as it was brought back to Cang Qiong.
Jin Lan City seems like a good opportunity.

“Uh, A’Yuan,” he asks slowly, just in case this is a hallucination. “Who’s this?”
“A cat,” A’Yuan says proudly, leaning his round cheek against the top of the cat’s head, while the cat continues to look at Wei Wuxian like he’s wearing week-old clothes covered in food stains.
Or: Wei Wuxian gets a cat, and then a boyfriend, both of which are a surprise.

He makes it his goals to prevent his favorite character from suffering at the hands of Shen Qingqiu, resulting in Luo Binghe living on Bai Zhan Peak, Shen Yuan being the focus of Shen Qingqiu's ire, and Shen Yuan writing instructional letter to Luo Binghe on Shen Qingqiu's behalf. But Luo Binghe can't help but feel a growing fondness for the author of these letters, and Shen Yuan is barely keeping the whole thing together.

I do not know if your martial uncles on An Ding have explained matters to you; but in case they have not, this master is the patron assigned to you through An Ding Peak’s sponsorship scheme. I am Shen Yuan, a cultivator nearly one-and-thirty years of age; and I am writing from Shuizhai, a little country town on the outskirts of Luoyang, where I run a cultivation academy for children between three and thirteen.
There is a great deal more, but Luo Binghe can hardly make out the rest through his tears.
Somewhere in Shuizhai, there is a man he has never met; and he already seems to care for Luo Binghe as no one has done since his mother passed away.
In which Shen Yuan teaches cultivation elementary school, and Luo Binghe falls in love across the miles that lie between them.
