Technically, he WAS the strongest – one-half of the strongest duo, that is. He keeps forgetting that a lot, what with Gojo Satoru’s blinding brilliance, but thankfully Satoru is here to remind him of that fact.
Correction: the version of Gojo Satoru who defects.
(Alternatively: on the night before the parade of a hundred demons, a different version of Gojo Satoru pops into Tokyo. The original one is nowhere to be found, and only Getou Suguru do anything about it.)

“Satoru, behave,” comes Suguru’s chiding voice from the kitchen.
Satoru gapes. “What?”
Suguru’s head pokes out. “Not you, I was talking to the cat.”
“The cat?”
The cat in question is staring balefully at Satoru. He doesn’t look half-bad—once dried out, his fur had fluffed up to nearly double its overall size, and with his eyes open, Satoru can see they’re an unusual shade of blue.
“Yeah,” Suguru responds, and there’s an unspoken obviously in his tone.

Yeah, now that Satoru thinks about it, that does make sense. Anyway, it’s hard to think clearly when Suguru is suddenly climbing onto the bed, invading his personal space and leaning in so Satoru can feel his breath against his lips.
“So, no homo, right?” Suguru asks softly, interrupting his thoughts.
“Yeah… Yeah, okay,” Satoru whispers.
And then Suguru kisses him.
