Summary
Merlin had often asked himself the same question over the years; how long would it take for everything to go to shit? Because there was so much that could go to shit.
His magic, for one, could be found out. Or, his friends could get dangerously hurt, Arthur could get into a kind of trouble that Merlin wouldn’t be able to rescue him from. And the worst? Arthur could find out about the giant red dragon that covered his chest, neck and shoulders, the same dragon that covered Arthur too, the mark that linked them in life and love; their soulmarks.
But Merlin has the worst luck, it’s already a miracle none of this has happened yet. But he speaks too soon because this all happens within the span of three days.

Still feeling off kilter from the loss of his manservant Merlin three years prior. Ridiculous he tells himself to have allowed himself to rely so heavily on the boy but he couldn't help it. Now that he's gone Arthur is left drifting but determined to live on and be the King Merlin had always said he could see in him.

Summary
It's been a year since Merlin's been found out as a sorcerer, and then escaped just before his execution, disappearing into thin air. Arthur is left reeling and feeling empty, like he's searching for something in a state of perpetual stillness, unable to move anywhere. Arthur misses Merlin, a known sorcerer, a betrayer of the crown and the law, and his best friend. Arthur doesn't know what he's supposed to do.
And then Merlin appears. But Arthur seems to be the only one who recognizes him. Torn between hope and dread, and questioning everything he's ever believed, Arthur falls into his future.. . . . .
The world isn't supposed to work this way. Black and white aren't supposed to blur. His father built clear rules for him to follow, easy lines to color inside of, but Merlin has gone and made a mess of it all.
Damn Merlin.

Summary
And then it was just Merlin and Arthur, standing in the middle of carnage, just a few feet from each other. It was honestly perfectly normal, it happened all the time. Arthur put away his sword, laughing a little, in his 'I can't believe I didn't die' laugh he did sometimes, which was kind of cute and again, perfectly normal. Then he was stepping over a dead man and coming toward Merlin quickly, and Merlin expected to be yelled at, for not helping or whatever usual utter rubbish Arthur says, because that too, happens all the time. It was completely normal....but This, THIS wasn't normal at all.

Summary
In the time that Merlin has been at Arthur's side, he has discovered that he is actually quite reliable about the important things. So whenever Merlin has a problem, the first thing he does is go to Arthur for help and together they always find a solution. At least, for every problem not surrounding magic. That is the one problem he fears what solution Arthur may find.
Or a super fluffy 5+1 of the five times Merlin goes to Arthur for help and receives it and the one time he doesn't go to Arthur at all.

Though without this feeling, no one would recognise him. He would be an entirely different person.
And gods, that thought hurt.

Summary
Merlin eyes water as they meet Arthur’s. Blue clashing with blue, unspoken truths passing between them. Even as they gravitate towards each other, they stay a foot apart, as if afraid of being seen even when they’re completely alone.
They never acknowledge these moments, even when they feel so real and all encompassing. They both pretend they’re just passing fancies, moments of brotherhood, when they know it’s much more than that. Brotherhood doesn’t (shouldn’t) have lingering touches and glances, bitten lips and watery wanting eyes, or wet dreams in the middle of the night.
This isn’t brotherhood, and both of them are well aware. Too aware.

Ten times Merlin and Arthur (unsuccessfully) hid their feelings from each other and the one time they didn't.

Summary
Merlin and Arthur have 99 problems, all of which could be solved by talking, but where would the fun be in that?
It's a bit awkward to realize you're in love with your best friend while you're getting married to someone else, but that's exactly what happens to Arthur when he marries Vivian. It doesn't help when Merlin moves across the globe that very night and they lose contact. Now five years later, a recently divorced Arthur has the opportunity to reconnect with Merlin, but will these two idiots talk through their feelings or will they occupy their mouths some other way?
This is your run-of-the-mill Arthur realizes he has feelings too late fic that ends in one of those big dramatic romance movie scenes with some smut along the way.
