Summary
Fate twists through the tower, tying people together in marks on their skin.
-
"Do you have to have one of those marks?" His voice was soft, and he recognized that now, that his voice was usually soft, easy to speak over.Jinsung did not speak over him. His eyes were thoughtful, and there was a consideration to his gaze that could have been kindness or pity. "Yes, you do."
"Oh." His voice had been even smaller than it normally was.

He knew better.
“You know him best,” Enne said and she was correct, he did know Bam best. “Which one would he like?”
-
Khun has loved Bam for a long time, but Bam is marrying someone else. It's the perfect ending to the perfect story, two perfect people having the perfect wedding.

Bookmarker's Notes
“It’s always so much more fun when you’re there,” Bam said earnestly, and Khun felt tired deep in his chest.
He looked at Bam, at Bam’s sweet eyes, at the sweet way Bam looked at him, all friendship and loyalty, bedrock and foundations, like Khun was something that existed regardless of everything else. Like Khun was just the sky or shinsoo or the food on the table. Like he was the clothes on Bam’s back, the easy strength of his hands. Like Bam was the irregular, the tsunami crashing through the ocean, and Khun was the beach, existing to catch the waves, endlessly and forever.
Khun wondered if he was being taken for granted.
“You’ll have to be okay with being late,” he said. “It’ll probably take me at least two hours to get ready.”
Bam just laughed, and he laughed like victory, sweet and ringing.

Summary
Bam’s party gets into an altercation with a particular warlord on the 105th floor. Khun is captured and forced to join the ranks of the man's many spouses to humiliate him and infuriate Bam.
It works, except that said warlord is about to learn just how dangerous it is to allow someone like Khun, who literally grew up with this sort of intrigue, into a position where he can put his considerable skill in plotting and backstabbing to use.

So, Bam had been literally raised in a cave, okay? He had come a long way, really grown, spread his wings, got literal wings made out of shinsoo. But— There were still things he struggled with, things he didn’t recognize, things no one had thought to show him.

Summary
After a disappointing conclave, Vincent readies himself to return to Kabul, with an inkling that the true inheritor of the Papal Throne was not there.
He meets Aldo Bellini in the garden.
Thomas Lawrence haunts the narrative.
Bellini continues to talk. “From 20 to 24- that was when we knew each other. We were in seminary- he was always the one to pull me back from the edge of arguments. But Thomas,” His voice breaks on the name. “He was always so anxious. He struggled with doubt- more than I ever knew.”
“Fitting name, Thomas had.”
